PDT is what you make of it. Honestly all regionals suck in different ways. If you are not going to move to one of the bases they offer, don't do it. Commuting will make your life miserable. Don't expect to be able to go home on your last day of reserve. Most times, you will get 2 days off so you are commuting home the morning of your first day off, then around noon on the next day starting your commute back.
On a plus note, we do have higher first year pay but that is negated by our poorly written reserve scheduling in our contract. We do get cancellation pay and have a minimum day guarantee (4 hours minimum if you go to work) and our vacation is pretty good. If you aren't on reserve I can normally manage 14-18 days in a row off with vacation. But that's the only positives about PDT QOL I can think of.
I second everything said about the fleet. I think we park 3 aircraft in March. I asked Johnny B a while back at what point it doesn't make sense to be an airline. He tried to avoid the question but told me if we go below 33 aircraft, it doesn't make financial sense to keep the airline going. After March we will be down to 41 so we are pretty close and planes will continue to be parked.
Definitely go to the interview and if you just want 121 experience, I say go for it but promise yourself you won't be here after 1 year. We have no training contract so you can continue to apply at other regionals. Get some experience then go somewhere else. That's what most of the junior FOs are doing. Republic just ordered about 50 E170 right and they give you a $5000 signing bonus? At least a 170 type rating will be valuable to other airlines worldwide? It's hard to find value in a DHC-8 type.
