Default First Class Medical

Does anyone know how the 1st Class Med exam works? Questions:

1. Is the AME going to ask me to bring my entire medical history with me from a family Dr?

2. Understanding that the AME is not my friend, if I didn't disclose information on a prescription medication that I took for a short period of time, is the AME going to somehow find out?

Thanks.

Your AME might well have you go to the FAA Med Pass and fill out all the information on line prior to going to the office.

https://medxpress.faa.gov/medxpress/...t.exe/doselect

I do not think that the AME expects you to bring some large family medical file. I did take my military medical record, but then again I knew that there was something in there that he needed to see (a military medical waiver).
To your second question - even the AME told me that he was not my *friend* and that when I wasn't answering him 'yes' or 'no' to the questions he was asking then we should caht about golf or something else NON-MEDICAL related. In other words - don't go offering up information that is not in you medical record. You are not a doctor so you shouldn't be trying to self-diagnosis too. Answer the questionnaire as honestly as you can remember and answer his questions as directly and honestly as you can remember IMO.

Wink

Ame nor any doctor won't know what you did or took unless it comes straight out of your mouth, So if you had a broken arm before no one will know but if have a big scar across your chest with 150 stiches it will be smart to bring it up.

Default First Class Med Question

Hoping someone can help. Recently decided on going to ATP and pursuing a career in Aviation. Will need a first class med before enrolling, this past summer went to a music festival in Toronto with friends and smoked legal marijuana, with the upcoming med exam and the drug use portion what should I expect to happen?

You are not tested for drug use at an FAA medical (that testing only happens when you are hired by certain airlines and charter operators, or possibly other employers who chose to do so).

If you admit to a little recreational use in the past, it may trigger a substance abuse evaluation which can take time and money. I'm sure they would give you a medical for one-time recreational use, it's possible the AME could do it on the spot without any further review.

If you don't admit to it it's very unlikely they'd ever find out under the circumstances, but if they did the stakes are very high for lying on that form... federal felony and instant revocation of all FAA certs.
