Flying Class 1 Medical
Hey everyone! I just got a pilot slot through ROTC and had some questions about the medical. Two things that concern me....
Allergies: I usually take a generic antihistamine and fluticasone(Flonase) only when I need it, which is usually in the summer. My question is would this be passable or waiverable?
Dry Skin: As a new born I had ectopic dermatitus. As of now I get occasionally dry skin which goes away if I put vaseline on it. Is this also passable/waivable?

Have you been diagnosed BY A QUALIFIED MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL with either condition?
If not - no you do not have allergies or dry skin.

Well I have received prescriptions for the flonase. Usually I just give the local campus doctor the bottle and ask for a refill. As for the skin, I was a newborn so that was 20 years ago. Between now and then...I don't believe so.
I passed the DODMERB my freshman year of college and have not had any medical changes since then.

I agree, you are perfectly healthy. The flight doc just so happened to fly with me last night and renewed my presriptions (Flonase & Allegra). He stated it was really easy to write these now because they are no longer waiver required. The only seasonable allergy medicine that is now OTC but the AF won't allow is Zyrtec. Good luck with everything and don't sweat the medical.

Great advice. Don't tell them anything before you get your wings, after you pin those bad boys on, then you can get a wavier for everything!

Just curious yall, I got 2 questions. I think I read somewhere that one of the military medical requirements stated that the pilot candidate should have no history of kidney stones. Wouldn’t this eliminate a lot of candidates or do they just don’t put it down on the list of their medical history?
Second question, anyone on here know if it’s an automatically disqualification if a candidate has only one kidney?
Once again, just curious.

If you were to get a pilot slot through the ANG and currently be wearing contacts do you have to get your FC1 through a civilian AME to show you can qualify for PRK and that vision is not a worry OR do you just notify the board you are applying for that you currently wear corrective lenses and let them figure it out for you?
