Default LASIK-- where is it NOT allowed

I just read that LASIK is not an approved procedure for pilots licensed in Japan. If you have had LASIK surgery it is a disqualifier for a JCAB Class 1 medical license. is this true does anybody know if LASIK is not allowed in some other parts of the world, like the middle east with Qatar or Emirates, central or south america, europe or africa, thanks

At Lufthansa you would have to do an extra test, never heard of someone passing it so far.

And btw, your eyes could not have been worse than +/- 3 diopters before you did the laser surgery.

Thanks for the response. Do you know what is involved in the extra test and why no one is passing it

(1) the corneal thickness pre-and postoperatively, as well as laser method, (2) the ablation depth of the laser, (3) the pre-and postoperative refraction objectively and subjectively, (4) the values of the actual glasses.

That's what they will check and furthermore they need to see a proof that you had not exceeded the +/- 3 diopters.

I've just read some reports on a german pilot board where they failed because of their eyes, there are probably a few who made it.
