Hey Guys....
Friend of mine has always wanted to fly (professionally at best, recreationally at worst.) but he has a CORRECTED heart condition called "Transposition of the Great Arteries"... it was correct by open heart surgery when he was 8 months old.
He also has Sick Sinus Syndrome, which is also corrected with a pacemaker.
He's had no issues with either problem. We're trying to do as much research as we can before he attempts are trying to get a medical.
Thoughts? Thanks!

Airmen with these conditions can be certified under special issuance. He would likely have to undergo a current cardiovascular evaluation and several tests including but not limited to ..... an exercise stress test, an echocardiogram, a 24-hour Holter monitor, and provide recent pacemaker interrogation data. If the results of the testing are acceptable, I suspect a 3rd class special issuance medical certificate could be attained with annual follow-up testing.
Good luck!
