Not knocking it but the formula is and always will be strength + endurance + diet + rest = results
Body for Life was similiar but did not involve plyometrics. It also seperated strength and cardio. It was basically supersets and you had to go to a gym - or have one heck of a home gym - to do everything. There's really nothing new here with 90X. "Muscle confusion" has been around for decades. What made Tony Horton millions was the marketing.

As a side note when Shawn and Bill Phillips (of Body for Life fame - they also started MetRx with Dr Scott Connelly) sold their small company (EAS) to Abbott Labs, the quality of the protein and MRP shakes went to junk. Once protein starts showing up at Walmart it's pretty much stripped of the good stuff for mass production.

As a small mom and pop shop they were producing high quality stuff (which means expensive whey isolate and casein blends). Shawn Phillips is back in business with a new company call Full Strength that produces a new MRP with 40 grams of quality protein, Vitamins, pro biotics, etc. The Best shake I have ever seen (although expensive). Mixes great on the road with a blender bottle (http://www.blenderbottle.com/).

And no, I have no affiliation or kick backs! I've been body building on the road for 22 years and have seen my share of crummy products.

Yes, MMA workouts are good. However the rest are not "wannabe programs". They are different programs. They are aimed at a different demographic. Maybe I don't want to workout in a pair of George St. Pierre shorts and then put on an Affliction shirt when I am done.

The bottom line, and this is a GOOD thing, is that there are several options for people to exercise.

Here is one of my favorite articles related to fitness. I think many people can take something from it. It does not promote any specific program.

Men's Journal Magazine - Men's Style, Travel, Fitness and Gear

Also, great job in trying to stay fit! It's important and overlooked in this industry. It has to be a priority otherwise it just won't happen.
