FAA Decision waiting time

Hey y'all

Will be submitting an application to the FAA for a 1st Class Medical Reinstatement in the not too distant future.

Anyone have any insight as to how long one can expect to wait nowadays for a decision from them?

I know it's impossible to get an exact timeframe (the AME powers-that-be refuse to speculate), just looking for a ballpark and if anyone has recent experiences.

It may depend on what the original problem and whether you have all the required documentation submitted.

It is a brain matter (recovery was as good as could be expected).

I've got perhaps the biggest expert in the field (Neurologist and FAA consultant) saying we're sending them everything we need. It's taken 8 months to retrieve all the documentation, images, etc so we're hoping we deliver everything the FAA could conceivably ask for.

3-4 weeks for initial response, 3-4 more weeks for decision, assuming your ame defers and can not issue on the spot

Thanks for the info. AMAS has told me they're sending me their cover letter to the FAA and I'm to take that to my AME -- who I haven't even spoken to since this all started, FWIW.
