It's also coming to the medical certification for CDL truck drivers. There will be a lot of guys out on medical leave when this becomes a requirement.

Could have something to do with the UAL incident. There are a lot of things that effect ones health. Quantity as well as the quality of the food we eat, stress level, etc. With the uncertainty of the real effects of GMOs and what not that major corporations like Monsanto are putting out, weight is a contributing factor, but many other things contribute to bad health.
Just my two cents.

Great, another government beaurocrat with his own personal agenda deciding what's best for everybody else.
They do realize 80% of the US population is over ideal weight correct?

Yes, but they also realize that a tubby that could have a heart attack at any moment due to poor lifestyle choices should probably not be flying a plane full of people or driving an 80,000 truck down a busy freeway. Smart move in my opinion.

If you don't drink a gallon of Coke and Starbucks each day and actually work out for 30 minutes a few times a week this won't be a problem.

It's the pilot shortage everyone's been waiting for.

I was thinking about this (kind of back of the napkin).... Over 15,000 hours of carrying pax, probably 5000 flights at 100 pax a flight... Meaning 500,000 pax carried, and I do not recall single inflight heart attack of any soul on board. I don't have the brain power to calculate the occurrence of MI inflight, but statistically it has to be almost non-existent.

I don't get it.
