Default Interested in PSA

I’m interested in PSA because they have a base in Norfolk va. I currently live in Richmond and that drive would be ideal, especially After reading numerous post about QOL with living in base vs commuting.

My question, is it possible for a new hire to get ORF after IOE?

Easy Norfolk is one of our most junior bases...

ORF is currently _very_ junior. It's also very new. Things might change.

DCA also started off very junior, and slowly became more senior. It's midrange right now. It's impossible to know how things will change in the coming months.

Right now, it's JR on the FO side, but at the same time there many lines there at the moment. I sure if the number of lines increase and CLT sees a decrease, and can see the seniority increase as folks decide to bid over and commute to hold a line.

I think think this month the most junior lineholder’s DOH was December. So 6 months to a RD1. As everyone else has said that will change, with the number of lines changing every month. Also as things become more established I’m sure more people will bid it.

I think ORF will stay junior for the reason that it’s going to be a 2 leg commute for a lot of people, compared to one leg to the hub bases (CLT, DCA, and PHL).

If you’ll get it out of training, I’ve heard that guys are getting it on their first bid during Indoc. If things stay this way, yes.

If your senior in your class, you'll get it like the first bid, if not, it will take like 2 bid periods in order to get it, but it might be different now. It took me two bid periods, but I was 50 percent seniority with my class, I started in Feb.

How is the seniority for a new hire Captain?

ORF seems to be the place a lot of the senior manned captains are sent to. So you’d be the bottom senority wise but I think you’d be able to hold it.

If you live in Norfolk and want to stay there, come to PSA. It will likely remain junior. It is NOT commutable like DCA, so less incentive for others to go there. As a result, the seniority required to hold CA there will not increase very much.

It also is not between the midwest, eastern, and Ohio Valley areas like DAY or CVG, so fewer places (directions) to draw commuters from.

I'm usually not a "Come to PSA!" cheerleader, but for someone in or around ORF it makes sense--both for FOs and those looking at an immediate or quick upgrade.
