PSA or Commutair?

Long time lurker, trying to decide between CommutAir and PSA. Will likely also post this on the C5 site.

As I see it:

Pros for PSA:

Flow, albeit 7 years+
More convenient domiciles (for me in the Midwest)
Better stability as a WO
Relatively quick upgrade, understand at 1000 hrs

Pros for C5:

Better initial bonus structure
CPP, understand not a flow
Smaller company, possibly more flexibility
One plane platform (E145) vs 200/700/900

I appreciate any insight, corrections or additional information.

Where do you live or want to live and where do you want to be based?

Where in the Midwest. Ohio then PSA hands down. But if you live near ORD have you looked at Envoy, Skywest, or republic? MSP maybe Skywest or Endevor. There’s just something about getting back from a trip and having your commute home waiting for you in the employee lot.

Halfway between ORD and either DAY or CVG. Envoy wants prior 121 time and I'm not particularly enamored with either SKW or RAH. C5 has some good things going despite the commute to EWR but it's also hard to argue against the relatively easier commute to DAY/CVG. The flow, albeit 7+ yrs out (if real) seems like a great thing to have as a backup, plus being able to hold a line quickly out of IOE in DAY/CVG.

Just looking for additional insight, considerations (both pros and cons), etc.

Ding Ding Ding there is your answer. DAY is super junior and a GREAT base if you live close. As regional bases go, it seems safe given the airline is HQ'd there.

Not commuting by air will add immeasurably to your QOL

Low Pay, especially captain pay.
Worst reserve rules in the regional industry.
Worst work and QOL rules in the regional industry.
Non-voluntary double leg commuting to the outstations with forced upgrades.
Awful relationship between the line pilots and management.
Pathetic relationship between line pilots and the union.

What about endeavor? I know they are hiring again. You can get paid $20 bucks more an hour across the board. We used to have a schedule adjustment period (SAP) but thats on its way out the door.

I honestly don't know why anyone shows up to indoc here at psa.

For his situation, I don't think a forced upgrade into DAY/CVG will be any issue to be honest. But he makes a good point, have you looked into Endeavor if your interested in commuting to NYC area.

But if it was up to me, I am taking PSA over C5 based on what you are looking for.

RAH for pay.

Isn't CMH still a RAH base?

Pay rates are way better FO and CA. Forget about this 'SAP' thing at PSA, (neutered by company). No pay raises at PSA anytime soon.
