Yeah it's not good, I was able to sap to get the days off I needed, but unfortunately since it took eight hours to process I wasn't able to build my schedule back up.
Hopefully seniority based works this month.

High credit pairings are the answer. You want to be off 16-18 days and still credit 75 hours? High credit efficient trips are what you seek. Want to work a bunch but still want 12-13 days off? High credit trips will help that.
In my opinion, the single biggest long-standing issue with our schedules is inefficient pairings. There should be no 4 day trips worth 13-16 hours awarded to R1 lineholders. It is honestly absurd.
Many, myself included, wouldn’t mind coming in a day early or staying the night at the end of the trip if it paid 22-26 hours. And it would solve a ton of issues. If I had a schedule of 22 hour 4 days I probably wouldn’t even SAP. Many others I’ve spoken with would SAP very little if they had the same.

Isn’t trip building done by computer? As reserve I’ve only paid attention to open time and figured he 3/4 day low time trips were BECAUSE of SAP. How does whomever is running scheduling even allow trips you talk of happen?

Only got one trade out of about 16 requested. The trips requested got picked up by others. Waited til 5 am for the ones that were put in around 11 pm. Got rid of a few days, but one short trip still remains that is needed to remove for an important family event. Unfortunately the last 7 attempts did not process until after the SAP closed so couldn't try any other options at that point.

Best thing that we could get here at PSA would be a 5 hour min day without any carvouts. 11 hour 4 days wouldn't stick around long if they had to pay you for 20 hours to sit around in a hotel.

That said, the low-credit trips are built largely because the pilot group at PSA didn’t push for trip and duty rigs during the last round of contract negotiations. Until it costs the company money to build trips that waste crewmwmbers’ time, the company will continue to build these trips.

Trip building isn’t automated. Many of the low credit trips in the SAP are because of conflicts between awarded lines and training, carry-in, and vacation events.
