Same reason people don’t save for retirement in their 20’s. Current qol may be more valuable (spouse finishing grad school, kids not in school yet, whatever)

I can also see logic for someone particularly old or young not caring as much about another year or two of seniority.

Some people need to put 2 + 2 in a calculator I guess... or hit a soft spot...
Their post seemed reasonable. You were the one that said it made no sense to stick around.

it doesn't make any sense

unless a Regional lifer is your goal

so now we should rewrite history I guess because of the 1%

pilots, making other pilots miserable since 1903©

Your goals aren't indicative of everyone else's. Neither are mine.

I was simply commenting on how you responded to the first person saying there were indeed reasons for staying. Didn't take it as ill will toward anyone.

[QUOTE=arbalist1;2877287]Just as a reminder, current calculations have this month's new hire flow time at 8.5-10.3 years from now.

That being said, I believe that number is totally worthless because there's no way the flow will remain unchanged for a decade. I don't know if there will even be regional airlines in ten years.

This. No way to calulate a 2,000+ pilot flow that's a decade out. If you're here, pray for less than a ten year flow. It's still a great opportunity if you get to American by 2029.
