FORT WORTH, Texas – American Airlines, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of American Airlines Group Inc., announced today that it has signed agreements with Bombardier Inc. and Embraer S.A. to purchase 90 new 76-seat regional jets. Consistent with American’s Plan of Reorganization and Merger Agreement, these aircraft will provide much improved economics for the airline as they will replace smaller, less efficient 50-seat regional aircraft scheduled for retirement.

Don't forget the 40 options, which if PSA performs well will likely replace our 200s in 2018 on.

Because they are GROWTH. How hard is that equation for you all? 1000 added personnel for the GROWTH. But hey what do I know. Wait and see for yourselves.

Hopefully new hires choose regionals based on contract and QOL. Only way that supply and demand will work when the pool dries up. Sad that bottom feeder regionals are the ones getting the new planes.

Part of the deal was that guys also would be called from us air to interview in seniority order. If they don't take the job their pay is frozen. There will be some movement from the top there. It may be some short term growth, but in the long term those 50 seats are going away. They may get more options but I don't thinks it's totally rainbows and unicorns just yet. Not to mention when the upgrade is above four years fo's are finished getting raises...not a nice thing to look forward to.

Long term the 200s stay. 40 options will likely replace those in 2019.

I guess we should define long term. I don't consider 5 yrs in the business world long term, especially in this industry. A guy getting hired today will be told growth, yet by the time he is about to upgrade or have it there will be a reduction/stagnation.

No offense to you personally but I don't feel pilots in general think far enough into the future. We may hope to be at a major for 25-30yrs of our careers but when management looks into running a business, our career length is of no interest to them. They look at numbers and viability several years/decades down the road. If pilots would think like that they would see why certain arrangements are being made now. With some of the offers being presented, if agreed to by pilots, will harm future new hires worse than today at the next stagnation; which will occur after these wave of retirements; ie. 15-20yrs down the road.

I know a large portion of eagle guys including myself would rather get a non flying job than go to another regional if we got furloughed. I'm sure there will continue to be those that "chase the dream" but I think it's less than you'd imagine.

I for one am ready to burn Eagle down. Let the spineless cowards at PSA have ALL the flying. I'd rather lose my job than take a single cent in concessions for new aircraft.
