The pay for ca will be difficult for first 1.5/2 years but then you upgrade and pay almost doubles and ill build pic time. Looks like the best option for me

Another option is the military if you can get in their flight training. What ever you do don't make the regionals a career choice. your goal should be get in, get out. None of the regionals want you to stay around for more than 10 years anyway. No matter what, aviation sucks till you get enough seniority to have control over your schedule and avoid a furlough. If i was smart I would have learned to play the piano and worked at a "ranch" in the Reno suburbs instead of learning to fly airplanes.
I'm always amazed when I see posts like this. I assure you 90% of us at least want to "get in and get out" of the regionals, alot of people have been stuck even trying to get out of the mess this industry is in. Going to a carrier which is contributing to the downward spiral of this industry so you can get your PIC time and get out is short sighted and likely to backfire. There are plenty of carriers that are offering reasonably quick upgrades right now, there is no reason to reward AAG management and PSA pilots for their actions.

The bottom line is, the vast majority of us are trying to get our time and get out. That strategy is not some secret that everyone is failing to grasp, it just hasn't worked that way for awhile unfortunately.

There's your answer then. I can't stress enough the importance of being able to drive to work.

I would go to which ever one you can drive to base. try like crazy to stay out of an airplane you are not flying. else you will get to sleep in crew rooms or benches or foot the bill for a hotel

If your close to ewr/phl how is PSA even an option ? They don't have a base in phl. Just go to a place where you want to work for at least five years. The days of get in and get out dont happen anymore.

Don't make career decisions based off of Internet forums.

The fact is regional carriers are, for all intents and purposes, contract lift whether they're wholly owned or not . The mainline will always go with the lowest cost. until there is only 1 regional providing lift to the 3 mainline carriers management is in the driver seat. if the pilots price themselves out of the market they end up getting furloughed then go to the next surviving airline who gets more flying or a spin-off. Top management get the bonus, pilots get the bone.

It would be do able to commute from phl to the clt base, that was my thinking with that, but only if i got clt on reserve out of training. (A lot of direct flights from phl ctl) Otherwise it would be difficult. I know that is basically flipping a coin for my qol
