Think more than PSA. Think bigger. Think if it were happening to compass would u want a guy losing seniority because he was being held? I'm thinking about the whole industry.

I personally can't wait until PSA announces the parking of their 200's because the place can't staff the flying. WHY would ANY new hire volunteer to go to this place and take the beatings under this contract? It was honestly probably part of the plan all along. "Guys lets sell this POS TA to the pilot group and make them think we're getting 30 additional airframes, then when we finally see we can't staff the new flying, we'll just yank the existing 30 frames we don't need anymore."

PSA yes voters, keep coming up with excuses. Management WILL do whatever THEY want to do to you despite what your useless contract says. If they want to keep you back from going to Airways, THEY WILL DO IT. They will meter your flow until they have no options. Then your CR2's will start leaving to fix the problem. If you haven't seen this pattern going on around the industry, I don't know what else to say. It's probably the same reason why you voted yes for your crappy TA.

Someone please educate me here and please pardon my ignorance of PSA's flow agreement. How can the company hold pilots back indefinitely?

Scrabola did to pdt guys in 2011-12. Isnt he with Brownstreak now? When you work for a wholly owned, you are at the mercy of mgmt. PSA pilots deserve what they get now.

So whats the real issue here? Can PSA not staff because they cant find pilots or can they not staff because training is severely backed up?

In January, the part of our new contract we signed back last april came into effect.
There is a Scheduling Adjustment Period (SAP) that allows pilots to drop their schedule down to 65hrs/month.
The company says this is hurting staffing.
Also we have had people leaving for other airlines. Not too many but some.
Management stopped upgrades last March because we were short of f/o's. Now it is coming back to haunt them. They are trying their best to train but it takes time.

I love it. The tools vote in a crappy contract, stabbing everyone in the back at other regionals and now the company is having a hard time attracting pilots? Shocking!! I'm aghast!!! So fun watching Juliet come up with excuse after excuse.

The problem right now has nothing to do with attracting new hires. The training backlog is starting to really hurt. Every new hire class for a while now has been full. The last announcement earlier this week was the largest class I've seen since I've been here.

The training department expanded too late. New hires are waiting a month or more for IOE.

The reason that the LOA passed was due to the large number of lifers at PSA. The MEC put the fear of god into them that if it didn't pass, then PSA would shut down. The senior guys, fearing a shutdown, rallied the stagnant FO population into thinking they would get a quick upgrade. That's how they got 61% passage.

I heard that a question was posed to the MEC chairman at the road show about how voting this in would affect other airlines and how there was bad sentiment towards PSA pilots if it passed. His reply was to the tune of "Personally, I'm not worried about other regionals, all I care about is what is good for PSA."

Now, with staffing an issue, look for your management to come in with another ultimatum to eliminate your SAP and reduce your preferential hiring. It's time to say no this time. Don't make the same mistake twice.

The SAP has really caught on around here. It would take something pretty damn significant to have the pilots vote it out. I really don't think the company has much room left for ultimatums, especially with at least 30 acft guaranteed for the next 10 years.

I actually discussed a SAP vote with a few guys recently where we tried to brainstorm what the company could give to get rid of the SAP. None of us came up with anything viable.

^^^^^This^^^^^^

Class of 20 every two weeks.... Classes are FULL.

60 people in the training house at any one time...
This with recurrent and upgrade classes have pulled too many instructors off the line.

Sorry to burst your bubble guys. PSA is short staffed because they have TOO MANY new hires... This is a growing pain, nothing more.
