This is way too balanced and objective, I thought you were planning on channeling your inner FirstClass and going rogue... [emoji6]

I've told people outright don't come here unless you want to gain hours. If you come here it's to be a classy ***** and nothing else. Management still spit on you, leave you in a corner crying, and not even leave the right amount of cash on the dresser. I don't pretend like some others this place is anything other than a means to an end and even then a poor one. That's not the message that comes from you over there as you had a guy go so far as to claim ENY pilots are akin to NASA astronauts in their hiring.

I saw the NASA thing. Like other posts from that guy, there is some truth and then it is mutated into some supermarket tabloid headline.

envoy has not changed their hiring standards in almost 20 years. I don't think PSA is horrible either. Heck, you guys even made your written test harder and change it up so it cannot be gouged. I like that. Compare us to say, a phone call interview at Mesa, and then it almost is astronaut standards.

You're right. In 6 years we'll be there. Our co pays and deductibles stay where they are though. A very very manageable and inexpensive amount.

Back on topic: take home for potential new hires: while it should not be at the top of your decision list, medical benefit COSTS should be a consideration.

To the guy going to Mesa: have you considered theirs? That is probably one of the worst things about Mesa. Their costs for a family are almost $1000 with huge deductibles that have to be met before any copays kick in.

Fortunately I'm mid 20's and single, with no desire for a family in the near or mid term future. I will miss my current plan though, it's great. Employer pays 75% of the premiums as well, although I've only used my insurance once. I'm a fit guy who is active and eats right, hopefully my good health will continue for decades to come...

I also have a supportive family who will help out if/when I need it, no student debt and only a car loan of 200/mo.

And those people really didn't want the AA job. The current program is in essence a flow; sure, in a more perfect world you'd like some stronger language, but it's working well for those who get called. The numbers, however, do suck. No way around that.

While you correctly point out that the current PSA SSP is a turd, do you really think that the regional segment is going to survive, as it is now, over the next 20 years? Heck, even 5 years? The Big 3 Legacy carriers alone have more retirements over the next decade than all the current regional airlines have pilots.

If I was a new hire I'd choose a REGIONAL with a Actual Guarantee Flow-Through agreement (NO interview required) to AA. Envoy (gets 50% of all AA classes, 30/month) or Piedmont (3 per month). Think ahead & be ahead of the curve.
As eaglefly keeps pointing out, very soon Envoy is going to have to hire a LOT of pilots to keep that flow going. How's that going to work out for you, when everyone on here insists that the pool of pilots to draw from is drying up?

See this is what I am talking about. First off you are believing a tool like Eaglefly. Second off - really? Envoy is going to have to FIRE people? Come on dude. Make some sense and stop listening to some guy who is angry at the world because he is fat.

I'll play along though. Do tell why we are going to have to fire pilots to keep our flow going?

Ok, my bad. HIRE people. Autocorrect fail, or something like that.

My point being, there are way too many unknowns at the regional level to make blanket statements like "upgrade in 2.5, flow in 6" statements.

How long did it take you late 90s / early '00s hires to flow, and what were they promised?

Good luck to you all !

Good grief can't you come up with something new?

So here is my question for the hopeful Envoy newhires to ponder. What happens to the "real flow" numbers when Envoy stops shrinking and those new 175's show up? Don't you have to hire new warm bodies to replace the flows? And where are all these pilots going to come from? I thought the regionals were already scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Hope this never happens but I wouldn't bet the farm on the "real flow" your so proud of when you start getting new planes and staffing gets tight.
