Culture here is taking a nose dive IMO and nobody seems to care enough to change it. Those that do care eventually burn themselves out dealing with the company stonewalling. Like everywhere else, by the time they realize how bad it is, it will be too late or cost too much to fix it. Chasing upgrades or flow? Yeah dumb idea. But if you are just starting out, what does SW offer you over other regionals? You want west coast bases? Compass is your best bet and if you want to upgrade you won't have to go to ORD to do it. East coast? Other regionals with signing bonuses and flow agreements. If the flow agreements don't work out? You are not any worse off than you would have been at SW. Nothing "industry leading" here except how many times you get told that we are "industry leading". And when it comes time to show you how much you mean to the company, here is a shiny quarter. Don't spend it all in one place. |
I give Skywest 2 more years being non Union. Seems like things are swinging the company's way and management doesn't want to give any to its employees.

Yea pdt would be a great place if their training department didn't suck so bad.

No actually he's not right. You'd have to be a complete moron to go to a regional for a flow right now...especially one where you're gonna be stuck in the right seat indefinitely. For anyone getting hired right now, it would take a bare minimum of 10 years to flow at any wholly owned...more likely 20 years. In the next 5-10 years, anyone qualified who wants to be at a major will be. Except the people who worked for a WO'd...they can't get hired at Amercian without their 20 year flow. You guys seriously need to put down that Flow Koolaide

So wrong on so many levels. I hope nobody actually takes your advise. If your goal is AA, then PDT or envoy are the only places I would go right now. Period. If you have no desire to work for AA, then go anywhere else. Simple as that.

Chasing a flow is not rediculous. If you really believe that the only 3 majors out there are going to be beating down your door when you hit 1000 TPIC, you're sadly mistaken. If your goal is a legacy, you have 3 options. AA, UAL, and DAL. AA will be hiring pretty much entirely through their WO flow programs, unless military. I wouldn't be surprised to see DAL follow suit in the near future. That leaves UAL. So, if your goal is a legacy airline AND you're brand new to the 121 world, your entire future potentially rests on UAL. Good luck with that. |

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk While I've only been in the 121 world for 8 years, I have had the opportunity to fly alongside guys who have been in since before I was born and have been able to impart some pretty damn good wisdom on the past, present, and future of the industry. So, with all due respect, you don't know sheet. |

Well, first, you have to acquire this magical device called a telephone. Then, you must pick it up and grunt when asked if you want a class date.

I want to fly Challengers, Falcons, or G things. I have contacts in the industry and have networked well, but I can't get a job flying anything larger than what I am until I have more time. |
