PSA violates contract and hoses new hire FOs
PSA has added several classes of Direct Entry Captain in direct violation of their AirLine Pilots Association union contract.
Rather than protest this violation, which will make less Captain slots available for those already on the property, the union has supported the company. Further proof that PSA pilots currently in charge are willing to eat their own young to get ahead.
I'd be concerned about going to a place that violates its own contract at will, and the union allows it. Further, as more and more DECs are added, fewer CA slots will be available. With a crappy flow time of 20 years, and little atteition, the growth will be over soon, with most of the growth Captain slots already accounted for.

Where are they? Your union met with the company to discuss this. Your contract says the company had to meet to discuss it once there was a single operating certificate. That was back in April. Not even a leak of info? I have some for you: the company wasn't giving it for free. They want to neuter your critical coverage and SAP for a bigger flow.

We welcome all new decs. We need them. We have about 70 more airplanes coming over the next 2 years, 50 of them from you. We welcome Envoy pilots too, several of which have reported for class. Let me know if you need a recommendation.

My point exactly folks! Thanks LastClass for helping me out! Even PSA pilots on here are making the case for Direct Entry Captains! Come join as a DEC and never make it off reserve, or come as an FO and stay an FO! This company has really already hired there last line CA and last FO that would uograde due to growth.

But don't worry. The whole thing will implode with the FIRST displacement bid PSA puts out. Given the history of Regionals you should see the first one in another year or two. The absolute mess from that fallout will be disastrous.

Well my understanding is that our contract language provides for CA pay if your an eligible FO who can't hold CA because a pilot junior to you (a DEC) is holding the spot. Aka, you would be a senior FO making CA pay. And regardless, our upgrade time is still going to be much better than other airlines. We are adding planes until 2017, and running a few DEC classes until September this year, the resuming FO classes full bore. This isn't going to be earth shattering like the Envoy guys who are on her want you to think.
I've said it before and I'll say it again... If your goal is to work for AA, then go to Piedmont or Envoy. PSA offers something else other than a short career path to a legacy. It just depends on what your goals are. And just remember folks, flows aren't all they are cracked up to be anyway.

You are just too dumb to realize that your shot of ever upgrading at PSA diminishes GREATLY with each DEC they hire.
