Move to base. Problem solved.

When you’re single, moving to base makes a whole lotta sense. When you’re married and have kids and some roots planted down somewhere, it isn’t so simple. But thanks for stopping by though.

Thanks for the responses! Regarding reserve, you guys think it is cheaper to get a pad? Or find cheap hotels? I know the answer to this question varies, but on average, how often were you overnighting in your base while on reserve? Granted if your in base a lot instead of flying trips it makes sense to get a pad. Just trying to get an idea how often I’ll be in town.

Depends a lot on what base you are going to. In my experience as CLT has not as much flying on reserve but you can get hotels for around $50 with a crew discount. However, DC has more flying but hotels are gonna be around twice that and availability would be less during holidays and conventions. Buchanan in DC is recommended but had a waiting list last time I was commuting.

You’ll be divorced before you know it. Welcome aboard.

the top 140-150 pilots are lifers and not flowing - that is a good number everyone seems to use

I'd say it's actual closer to a third of that range, but no more than half.

That said, because of how flow pilots get left on the PSA list until they complete training at AA, current most junior flows have 14x seniority numbers.

They have since changed that and now show as FLO on the seniority list. With the list that just came out its a 25x number.

They're still on the list, aren't they? ;)

And you're talking about employee numbers, not seniority numbers. Totally different animal, even though you're entirely correct that 25xxx employee numbers are now flowing, with 14x seniority numbers.

There were 25 of us hired outside of the flow back in May. They treated us like flows as I’m still on the seniority list. We have PER next to our names.

Wow, that's crazy. I mean, you're definitely cheaper to pay over at AAG these days than in the left seat of the CRJ.....

All that said, LOA 5 states that anyone hired at AA, either flow or OTS, is treated the same way, so personal leave and all that. Little known fact.

Definitely cheaper for AA. $91 vs $400 something lol. That’s ok, I still don’t regret my decision. It’ll pay off one day… hopefully haha.
