You realize that the whole world goes to vacation down there? They have plenty of resorts just like any other island in the caribbean.

But those resorts are mostly tied to European/Canadian travel agencies from what I have read elsewhere.

What I'm curious about though is what will Silver do now. I was under the impression that they were really betting the house on Cuba which is why they left all of the EAS flying up north.

American is downguaging Camaguey and Cienfuegos to Republic 175s starting next month.

Once they build up the "tourist infastructure" i.e Sandals builds some resorts down there the capacity will pick back up. Most people probably don't want to jump though hoops of getting a visa and dealing with that whole process just to stay in a typical Cuban hotel that hasn't seen a renovation since 1968.

There's absolutely zero hoops to jump through. Show up at MCO, go to the JetBlue counter, they send you to another counter where you pay your $50 visa and go get your boarding pass.

One day you will fly over Varadero and will understand Western European havent been waiting to flock in there.

Peeps with non-rev priority on those 175s are going to enjoy visiting Cienfuegos, gorgeous historical town.

Maybe they don't want us there with nor do they want a subway at every corner?

Ain't that the truth. I rather them still keep the business side embargo just to keep American companies out.

I've seen rapid tourist growth in the Dutch Antilles and it frankly sucks. The islands are getting overcrowded and more Americanized. Hopefully my favorite island is the last to get touched.
