Colgan Training

Would anynone have any insight on how Colgan conducts their Saab 340 training in Manassas, and where you go from there? Also does anyone know about the LEB and PQI bases?

5 weeks at the training center - doubled up in a hotel room - $50/day pay. 2 weeks in STL for the SAAB sim then IOE. LEB is a beech base, PQI is a SAAB base. - more later - BCD

flyguyniner11 03-03-2007 05:51 PM

do you know if your in the saab or the beech?

JoeyMeatballs 03-03-2007 06:11 PM

Vic will teach all about the 737 Systems, and Ed will start and finish every sentence with "Alrighty". Both good guys.

"okok Cold dark airplane"
"Sonn to be vast knowledge of the SAAB 340 Systems" hahah good times.

CubCAPTAIN 03-03-2007 07:04 PM

Hopefully Ed will bring his dog Little Man. He plays dead really well. Oh and don't forget the historical significance of Manassas, VA. You'll be staying very close to where Lorena Bobbit did the deed/disposed of the evidence:D

Laxrox43 03-04-2007 02:54 AM

Sounds like a good time...so who will be there on the 9th?

flyguyniner11 03-04-2007 05:17 AM

alpar80 03-04-2007 08:42 AM

Yeah bro, Ill be in Va on fri! See you there, Ill be the one from Boston! Barooski take your misery and bury it somewhere else... I think you made your point clear about how you feel about Colgan... I guess there's one in every crowd.

DMEarc 03-04-2007 08:54 AM

Look, I believe Saab had it the worst at Colgan. I mean he must have been put through **** by them to hate it as much as he did/does.

I believe if Saab could kill Bin Laden or Colgan he would choose the latter.

Now me, I have never done a Part 91 flight. I overnight 2 nights on my 4 day trip, I average 97 credit hours a month and am having no trouble living on 1st year pay. Upgrade time may go down just simply because of the Q400.

In my opinion, Colgan isn't bad and it isn't great amazing. It's good so far. The 340 is amazing and the crews are a blast to fly with.

Don't listen to Saab, his story (although I'm sure it's true) is just one sided. If you come here expecting them to treat you like royalty, it isn't going to happen. You work for them and if your paycheck doesn't bounce be prepared to roll with the punches.

We're growing and things are looking good, we need to keep expanding the Saab route if Pinnacle wants us to keep getting bigger. I expect most new hires after August to go straight to the Q400...but we'll see.

By the way Alex, did anyone get hired into the 1900? And what were your times?

Super attitude there boss This ignorant niave comment is exactly why COLGAN treats their pilots the way they do, No wonder Colgan hired you, have fun being abused, but I guess thats the same attitude most starry-eyed 700hr CFI's have

alpar80 03-04-2007 11:17 AM

Ignorant??? I think the word you are looking for is arrogant... Ignorance comes by the ways of those who are less educated, perhaps in the form of those who do not use the english language properly... hmmmm..;)

Ok well Its a good thing im 100% Italian. Your what 26? Act like it, using words like "stoked" to describe flying for Colgan, as well as not caring about "peanut" wages is slightly childish, kay pumpkin?

flyguyniner11 03-04-2007 11:50 AM

the guys excited he got a 121 job why you gotta put him down like that, thats harse man, but i guess its to be expected from you

no no no I believe before I said congrats and good luck, but I think the attitude of "I dont care, ill fly for peanuts" is partially the reason for airlines abuseing their pilots, dont you agree?

flyguyniner11 03-04-2007 01:56 PM

i agree that pilots should get paid more but didnt you do the same thing?

Is there any break in training between Manassas and St louis?

alpar80 03-05-2007 05:14 PM

Also does anyone know about the INS 1668A form they require for training? Employment verification form? Where does one obtain this, I cant find it on the INS website.

We got a break after Manassas because of Christmas. I think Ed fought for that one for us. But I have heard that it is more common to go straight to St. Louis.

"What is the definition of marginal???"

flyguyniner11 03-06-2007 03:59 AM

that ins form is only needed if you dont have citizenship in the US, if you do need it i have found it just search google for it

alpar80 03-06-2007 07:36 AM

Is there anything in particular that I need to bring to training? How bout dress? Khakis and sweaters/collard polo shirts? How are the digs? Do they have refigerators/ micros to cook and keep food, Im sure as $hit not gonna be eating out every meal on $50/day pay!

DMEarc 03-06-2007 08:15 AM

To answer your question, YES there is a 3-4 day break.

Go home and see your family.

alpar80 03-06-2007 08:52 AM

Thanks bud, thats what i was hoping!!

Short Bus Drive 03-06-2007 08:58 AM

OK, here's one for the "old timers" at CJC. I don't think it's there anymore, but right in front of the Days Inn there used to be a restaurant where we would eat, drink, and be merry. Does anybody remember? It was between the hotel, and the gas station on the corner.
"Stumbling distance"

dingo222 03-06-2007 10:21 AM

in hef? is it addy's?

Short Bus Drive 03-06-2007 12:44 PM

Yeah, in HEF. Addy's,hmmm doesn't sound familiar. Was it diagonal from the Best Western? This is going back to 1999. That might be it. Anyways, good times had there while in training. Bowling was never my forte.(Maybe "Scorpion Bowl"ing).
