So how did you get there?

So...
The manufacturer was offering the chance to build scads of turbine multi, the airline gigs weren't.
I'd already done the airline thing.
I hadn't done the corporate thing yet.
The manufacturer internship paid very well.
I'm still very glad I did it!

I actually left out the fact that I was an intern for American after my sophomore year of college, since it didn't build any flight time. A very valuable experience, nonetheles...It was unpaid, but I got to see airline life firsthand and meet some great people.

LAFF: you seem like a mild-mannered fellow and I do not wish to alienate you but could you please offer a bit of illumination to the many of us who read your posts containing plugs for this one flight school as to why you are doing them? The plugs often have a tenuous connection to the thread in which they appear and mainly serve to make you look eccentric, motivated, and perhaps a little bit psychotic in overall effect. I don't take offense to advertisements as such and I passively and somewhat helplessly witness many of them each day on cable television; but there is a curious difference, in that such advertisements almost without exception display the purpose of increasing the sales revenues of the purchasers. Could you perhaps explain exactly what it is you seek as a payoff in this flight school plugging, and what sort of metric you employ to gauge its success?

Hey Kalyx522,
Thanks for your response and I am interested in hearing more about the aerial survey work, but I don't have enough posts to pm. I'm new to the forum, so I'm not sure how to communicate otherwise. I could give you one of my old email addresses. Any ideas?
Thanks again!

I'm no fan of ATP but I did find out that they don't use any "special" DPEs so I'm not really sure if the "all trainees pass" analogy really apply for them.

Went to Baylor University and started flying at 18yrs old in August 2000. Jan 8th 2002 picked up my private. I was having a hell of a time with college and the school was short handed, then 9/11 hit. Graduated in August 2005. After hurricane rita hit I went to a place offering quick hours flying radio relay up and down the gulf coast for helicopter companies. Did roughly 300hrs in 6weeks. However the guy I was working for screwed me and only paid me $1500. Then came out here to the desert where I do initial flight screening for the airforce and have flown more in a C-172 than anyone should really want to. Made a good living though. But it's time to move on.
