Default ASA Classes

Anyone currently in class at ASA - I'm headed to class in Oct and was wondering how they are running things since the merger.

Thanks

The only thing that changed so far was the name on our paychecks.

I interviewed on Oct. 12 and recieved a letter placing me in the pool. Does anyone (shamu) know what the plans for class dates are? Right now I am commuting from ATL to LGA for my current job and I just want to be at ASA ASAP so I can quit this communting crap. Any info at all would be great!

Default Until Next Year

The official word (from the Training Department) is that the last new hire class for CY 2005 will be Monday, 14 Nov. The Reason... well, that's where the fact's get blurry.

Below are a few things many of us have heard:

1. Who will Train them? The strain on the limited staff of instructors, including Groundschool and Sim guys is once again taking a toll - with the holidays approaching... etc, December is never a good time to start class.

2. What Fleet Plan? The super secret behind who is getting all of those 70 seaters that SkyWest Inc. has purchased/ordered may also play a factor since SkyWest has also halted hiring/training.

3. Making room for the glut! Could the halt be to catch our breath before the influx of many Comair/Mesaba/Independence furloughees? (Sorry to all of those individuals, it could have been us)

4. What Contract? This, in my opinion is the best to stew on... Does SkyWest throw jets our way when it seems that ASA as a whole doesn't have its collective $#it together. Don't get wrapped up on that one though.

Anyway, everyone that I have talked to seems to think the halt is only temporary though, for any reason... but it may be simply because we're all waiting to see what happens with the Delta shakedown.

Hopefully, those of you in the pool should be getting some ID badges early in January. Good Luck and Stay Safe
