Default Southwest hiring update/future classes

Southwest just finished cleaning up the pool, hiring 120 pilots in April-May-June. Interviews resume next week, and will take place during several weeks of each month through the rest of the year.

Classes: 1 class in July only, with 1 each in August and September. After that hiring "should" pick up in preparation for the 2006 aircraft deliveries....

SWA originally projected to hire 400 in 2005, and as of this week they're up to 360. So the 400 number should be easily exceeded.

Apply online

Southwest payscale, pilot domiciles, etc

Default Only hiring with a 737 type?

Is it true that they are only talking to people with a 737 type rating? I know it says you do not need one to interview...but the word we received was only those with a type were being called.

Well if you were in charge, who would you call first? seems pretty simple. If you want to fly for WN, you go get the type.

By my ID you can probably guess I am not a pilot…I am just doing a little research for my husband while he is out busting his butt for our family. So thank you for making it so CRYSTAL CLEAR. I wish there were more people out there that take the time to spell things out in such SIMPLE terms!

Im sorry you didnt like the tone of my post, but the truth hurts sometimes. I was trying to get you to think a little. Ive read your posts on other web boards and they are all the same. Life is tough, my husband works hard, please help us, blah, blah, blah. I think everyone is willing to help out, but when you ask a question, dont expect to hear what you want to hear. This inudstry is tough, as im sure you know, so lose the sensitivity and welcome aboard.

Talking Hey Flaps 9

Flaps 9
Might want to get your information correct. If more attention was paid to detail, you would see that my Join date was July 2005 and I have 2 posts. And lets get one thing straight, I was not asking for your help. I was just verifying my information was correct. And yes, my husband does work hard, but at least he is not a blah blah blah.

"Richard Cranium" I agree with you completely!

Ah yes a barbie jet captain wow. Such authority. How about you lose the attitude wannabe. I commend a wife that actually cares and wants to find out more for her husband. As for a type, no, it is not needed for the interview. Actually if it was me, I would wait unless you have a spare 7 to 10 grand laying around and like to gamble. The type is somewhat useless except for SWA. Let them offer a job contingent on receipt of a type. And as you can see the aviation industry is tough and does has it share of *********s as well. Now how is that for simple.

Smile Hey flaps 9

I take it by your profile you must work for Transtate Airlines, and if everybody there has your attitude, that would explain a lot. Get a life and try to have some courtesy.
As for Pilotswife although SW does not require a Type Rating to get an interview or even a job offer, I am told that the reality of the situation is that without they would not even interview you, because they have a lot of applicants that have a type rating. Keep looking out for your husband, just like my wife does for me.
Good luck!!
