AirTran developing a bridge program with ERAU
AirTran is striving to develop program that would take select ERAU grads and put them directly into AirTran ground schools after graduation. The program would consist of about 5 upper level classes developed jointly by AirTran and ERAU and a 3 month internship that would prepare students for employment at AirTran. This training would be given to approx. 20 students per year. This program is still in the development phase but could be operational for next fall's seniors.
It looks like ERAU is finally coming around. For the last few years they've been falling behind the trends that places like ATP have been setting. Programs like these will give better justification for the tuition bill. I hope other universities follow suit.

I don't know the sources Duvie is using but I spoke with a Capt from airtrain yesterday and it is true. I don't know about the time frame, accepted students, etc but he is here for the next couple days seeing how to incorporate a program into ours. The classes would get into the airtrain FOM, regs, policies, etc specific to AT.
It sounds promising but like other things i'll wait to see.

NWA (mainline) inked a similar deal with ERAU in 2002.
I second the above posters - I wish I would've had that opportunity when I went there. Some people get all the breaks...
I would hope they might lower mins for off the street hires if they went to ERAU. Think the college will negotiate that into the agreement? Yeah right, they won't get any more money from it so no way!

So..........AirTran won't hire 10,000+hr folks with thousands of hours of PIC flying Part 91 or 135 if they don't have 500 Part 121 PIC, but they'll hire no-time, no-experience ERAU wunderkids?
This is especially hard to believe knowing that AirTran has thousands of resumes on file from highly qualified pilots.
Source, PLEASE.
