Using this logic...when should a Ca from a regional move to a major? How bout an FO who has an in? Maybe we should just term that Big Jet Syndrome.

I put it in the regional forum because I knew it would get a much bigger response here. I learned on an internship a while back that pilots at the majors are much more accepting of each other and usually refrain from name-calling (except scabs). They thought Riddle, Purdue and UND were all great places. Those guys have seen a ton of bridge programs with various airlines come an go over the years with different amounts of success. The time space contiuum won't come to a grinding halt because of this.

The D.O. of AirTran is a German fellow who wants to model this program after those over in Europe that bring very apt students into the cockpits with low time. The most important part of this program will be the selection process. Although there are a lot of dopes at Riddle there are also quite a few intelligent, motivated and sometimes humble pilots who would make great candidates. I'm sure the same can be said for other aviation schools. I think this is a step in the right direction. Purdue and UND guys should see what they can to do stir something up at their schools.

This is just another thing to add to the inflation of the heads of Riddle students.

Our Dean of Aerospace here at UND spoke to one of my classes today. He said that Mesaba might start up a program to pay for students CFI course then after instructing for UND and hitting minimums come to class at Mesaba. Also there are rumors of Pinnacle and some other regionals starting up student individual scholarship incentives to come fly for them with lowered mins after graduating from UND.

Texas Pilot76 Qualifications: I have 440 total/ 65 multi,CFII, CFI, four year degree, veteran. "

The MAJORITY of ERAU students are NOT undergraduate aerospace science flight training students - which many like to "harp about." Most students are in engineering, aerospace management and other majors taught at military bases and airports all over the world. Many of these students are in their late twenties and early thirties, have thousands of hours of flight time and are often airline chief pilots or highly experienced military pilots seeking advance degrees.

One may be your Captain, Sim Instructor, Check pilot or Chief Pilot when you are hired by an airline.

I was only referring to how most Riddle students think their school is better than any other university that has an aerospace program. I am not bashing anyone that pursues a degree. I feel that you must get a degree to make it anywhere in life, so I commend all Riddle students for doing that;however, I do not like the mentality of most of the students and alumni. The HR representative that came to my university from American Eagle to sell us on their internship said that they rarely accept a Riddle intern because most of them come in to the interview thinking it is theirs just because they are a Riddle student. I was merely poking fun at the arrogance of the majority of Riddle students I have come into contact with.

If you're talking about brand new wet certificate 450 hr TT ERAU grads, I wouldn't count on it.

If anything, it will most likely be an internship that leads to a guaranteed interview after you build so much total time.

I thought it was rough being a low time intern to line pilot guy at ACA (and for the most part I was accepted since I could do the job, but there are always jerks). I can't imagine what a CA that spent 5-10 years at the regionals and 5 years in the right seat of a 717 will think about flying with a 450 hr grad (from any school).
