Actually, 9E is hiring street captains. In the current class we have someone going straigt to the left seat. They do want to limit these hires. The recent classes were told that the 2500 reducable time requirement was close...FAA is dragging their feet...not the company. When times are reduced to 2500, company believes they probably will not have to hire street captains. Either way street captains are alive and breathing in the CEC right now.

What is the chance of getting MEM as your domicile? How do people like it down in MEM? I cannot do another cold winter and miss the southern heat...

really?? thats intersting because they haven't been posted on the vacancy, and in the vacancy for captain spots it doesn't say NHT... like i said they are not hiring street captains (unless they are going behind the unions back in doing so). what they are hiring are people with enough time to upgrade to the left seat. they though, like everyone else must wait for their number to be pulled to move over. as you can see there are 3 classes of upgrades going on with 16 people or so in each class. the seniority went as far as 1100 or so but the most recent only went into the 800's. I am sure there would be some upset people if they found out they were interviewing people to go straight to the left seat (including some guys in my class who now have the time and are waiting on the next vacancy to be posted). now if they get hired as an fo, put their bid in for captain, and a month later get it, then thats fine. if their number is pulled then more power to them.

AirSupport, you are exactly right. Technically, these pilots are hired as First Officers and they have to go through first officer training. Then, once they get a seniority number they get an upgrade class, if there are not enough current FOs with the min time.

I should have explained things better...they are hired as FOs...but they will be a captain as soon as they enter the line considering current hour requirements.

Hopefully, all of this can be alleviated, and we can lower the TT requirement to 2500, even if there is a 1000 in type requirement. I think this will fix the problem, at least for a few years.

Once I read my previous post I realized I should have worded it differently...I like 99% of 9E would prefer to not see high time pilots jumping more senior FOs for upgrade.
