Im up in the air with this decision now. Please dont bash me for graduating at the right time, just want everyones honest opinion. Before all this news of the mins being lowered i was definetely goin to start my CFI, but now im having second thoughts. Any info would be helpfull, everyone i have talked to that was a CFI said they learned a ton and wouldnt trade it for anything. But, as far as the seniority thing, not doing CFI would benefit me tremendously. I just wonder if i will have the knowledge to pass the training at a Regional.
Also, a CFI gives you a great second option should your airline take a shyt. |

ya, in either case i know ill have to study hard. People should always ask that question because it makes them think about how well they will/are doing their job.

Wow, I'm showing my age here but back when I was instructing in the 80's Comair was the only regional (launch customer actually) for the 50 passenger regional jet. Their hiring minimums were more in line with what the majors are looking for now, and if you got the job you had to pay $11,000 for your training. Guys were doing it though, looking at getting 121 jet experience and jumping to a major. Like a lot have mentioned on this thread, I would have loved to bypass getting the CFI and get on at a regional instead, but I'm glad I instructed. I learned a ton, and made some great friends doing it. Good luck you guys!
