Greetings everyone on the thread,
I’d like to start off by sharing some information about myself. I’m currently an instructor applying to airlines while working towards my 1500 hours. Living in New York wanting to stay in New York. That being said, I have 3 regionals in mind. Envoy, Skywest and Republic have bases in New York but I understand Envoy isn’t offering the base at this moment. Republic has a base in New York but the ties to the majors aren’t as solid as Envoys. I have also heard that the base for Skywest in New York is not doing so well. I’m having a hard time deciding between the three in order to be able to live in New York with either my base being at home or somewhere relatively easy to commute to and from. The question would be which airline you guys would recommend that would best benefit someone wanting to live in New York either having to commute or not. (lifestyle over pay) For pure QOL and more pay but potentially more limited career advancement by not having a flow, go Republic. For the greater career advancement potential of a flow and less of a QOL/pay, go to Envoy. |

Guessing he means no 10 year flow at Republic?
Just fact checking, Envoy still needs improvement on certain areas though. |
Republic. You gotta plan as of you won’t get your ideal base.
If you go to Republic and can’t get LGA right away you can go to EWR or PHL and still have an easy commute from NY |

Republic or Endeavor. |
Don't let Envoy sucker you in with Flow and the bonus. The QOL and pay there are industry low, by far. Unless you have a black mark on your resume, you will not need flow to move on. And if hiring slows down, guess what? So does flow, and you will see those times skyrocket.

No they are not. Pay is above average, and QOL is average.

5 year captain, SRJ pay. Skywest 82/hr Endeavor 92/hr Republic 92/hr Commutair 71/hr Mesa 69/hr Envoy 83/hr GoJet 78/hr Air Wisconsin 79/hr Average 80.75/hr $83.42/hr is above average. Notice how I even skewed the average by including the highest paid regionals and skipped some lower paid ones. First year FO pay, $50.21/hr, is also above average. Currently a 6 year captain at $93.80/hr is close to Endeavor and Republic. This is a moving target because of our pay banding, the most junior guy on the LRJ pay is a 9/2014 hire. |
