How long into training do you find out your base?

Also, what are the breaks like? How often/long? Just trying to get a feel for when/if I'll get a chance to visit home.

Thanks!!

I can tell you your base right now! JFK. Right now everyone is starting out at JFK. As far as breaks go, you will have a few days off here and there, epspecially during Sim training.

That's what I've figured but I also heard some recent classes had a couple go to CVG. Thanks

Everyone wants to go to CVG and let me tell you this. Go to JF'nK and fly your butt off, or go to CVG and sit on your butt. Yes JF'nK is not an easy place to live but it is not the horrible place everyone thinks it is. You don't need a car, its easy to get around on the LIRR or the Subway and the city is great. The crews at JF'nK are great and fun to work with as well.

As for days off you will have plenty, During sims I had at one point 10 days in a row off. Training is great hope for the Radisson it is not as nice as the others but it is within walking distance to a lot of things to do. Keep a good attitude and ask questions, the training dept. is there to help.

Yes, JFK is the most junior base, and yes you will go there first. However, CVG is VERY understaffed. I'm JFK based and I keep getting CVG overnights. It seems to me that the transfers back to CVG from JFK aren't keeping up with the people leaving the company who are CVG bases.

BTW.. You all will love it here!! Everyone is great though training and once you get out online everyone is awesome to fly with!

btw... i'm not sure what they are telling you all for reserve time at JFK, but i've been off IOE for a month and I have a line next month

I agree 100%.

Unless you are comming from CVG the commute is great. And like Pantera said, NYC is a great city. Plus it is all about the cash money. You WILL make more flying out of the Circle jfK.

During the first week and a half you will have some time off, their whole launch thing puts u in the sim and they split the class up. it seems like you are kind of floating around cincinnati until launch is over. you have no books, so nothing to really study, so its actually kind of boring on your days off til ground school starts.....

Good Afternoon,

Would someone explain how they live in NYC on that hefty first year pay. Not being sarcastic, but want to plan ahead.

Thanks for the help.

V/R,
Apollo
