Default EWR base regional choice

Hi everyone!

If Republic was not an option for EWR base, which regional would you choose? From my understanding choosing ExpressJet for a Newark base could be a gamble within the next few month due to downsizing. would it even make sense to interview with them? This leaves CommutAir and GoJet?

I will be interviewing soon and trying to run various scenarios just in case. I anticipate to start class in June-July timeframe. Also, I do have 4 year degree and some prior jet time from my 135 days (PIC type rated).

Thanks in advance!

Why isn’t Republic an option? They are by and far the best regional with a EWR base.

Xjet is downsizing EWR? And why isn’t rpa an option? If you want EWR that should be the only regional you’re considering.

At least that's what I read in ExpressJet forum. Well, like I said, just running scenarios.

C5 pay and contract is not good right now. But we are in the midst of contract negotiations that seem to being going at a good pace. Also a bit of growing pains at HQ for the support of us pilots, since we are expanding so quick. But people are great. Def a family like atmosphere.

Here's my update on the search. I received offers from EDV and PSA and will be most likely cancelling C5 and PDT interviews. RAH rejected me so that's not an option.

In your opinion, which of the two will be a better choice if I want to fly 1-3 day trips? Having done quite a few long trips for a 135 operator, I try to stay away from 4-5 days on the road if at all possible. Any recommendations will be appreciated. Also, I live around 20-30 mins from both LGA and JFK (this is without traffic) and close to 1.3 hrs from PHL.

I dont know about EV and PSA but C5 will credit your 135 pic jet time towards upgrade and we are upgrading people as soon as they hit 1k qualifying hours.

Is the crediting of 135 PIC time common amongst regionals?

EDV is not the place to go for 1-3 day trips.
