Be yourself and show them you like what you do. Be professional and make sure they know it. I just gave them my midwest smile with a kind eye and a firm hand shake they loved it. Oh and I did really well in the sim. I had that going for me too.

Thanks flyerfly! I am doing a lot of brushing up this week on studying as well as geting some sim time. (not full motion, but every bit helps) . Do you work for AWAC??? or interviewed with them? If so, how wasa that like?

They will hire you at the job fair. We are hurting just like everyone else for pilots. We have pilots jumping off this ship as soon as they can for other oppurtunities just to leave awac. I have been here for 6 years and this company is only a shadow of its former self. You should ask yourself why a airline who only has 700 pilots has to hire 20 per month... when we are not growing? The reason is people like myself are sick of seeing the company build crappy schedules and run rampent over our personal time off. For example the month of june schedules for captains avg. 12.5 days off with trips that are not commutable. The company is not getting the canidates they want to show up to appelton wisconsin. therefore they are interviewing right on the spot, hoping to get people to comite before they get another interview or a change of heart. If you want to live in domicle its not that bad if you are planning on commuting go to a company that will build pairings that allow you to commute.. good luck.

VikZ09 thanks for the heads up, Ive heard that at these job fairs they grab you right away, I am currently employed by a part 135 carrier, and i live in BOS, I know that they do 2flights per hour frm BOS to PHL and DCA. I am wondering how commutable that is??? I now reserve is almost a year nd that makes it tough, so a craash pad isnt a problem for me. But i am jsut curious also about training and how that is. Thanks

Also, are there other bases for AWAC that they may open up? I heard rumors of possibly CLT or RDU? Any chance of BOS since USAIR has a base here?

Probably not CLT because PSA and Mesa have domiciles there, although it'd be a nice place for commuters. RDU was almost a go but US Airways couldn't guarantee a set number of departures for us every day so now the company "is evaluating all options". The same reason (excuse?) has been used for MKE.

Slim to none. We'd have a LGA domicile well before BOS as much flying as we're set to spool up there and they've put the kabosh on that rumor a bunch of times already.

As far as training goes its a good company for training. they will make every effort to get you thru training. many pairings show at 6 am which means the first day off is non commutable. living in boston might make the pill easier to swallow for you. I live in the midwest and for me the company seems to going in reverse. No new oppurtunities for flying and seeing your future with us airways and no one eles is a little scary for me.

Go to the fair, see what AWAC has to say compared to everyone else there, then make your decision. If you have the total time/atpw and want to stay in BOS---go to BigSky as a street CA. I'm at AWAC and I like it so far.... I don't commute though. Oh well...just my $.02
