Who is still hiring?

Trying to brainstorm places to land for wayward Compass and Trans States guys and gals. Any and all 121 carriers. Atlas? Sun Country? Bueller? Bueller?

Air Wisconsin is still full steam ahead. For how long though I’m not sure.

edit: nvm, literally 15 minutes after posting I find out we are postponing classes.

FedEx is. They’re running classes, not sure about interviews though as there is a pool of candidates they’ve been drawing from.

Turbosina 03-19-2020 02:41 PM

I have to think the cargo carriers. Polar/Atlas? ATI? (Yeah, yeah, I know). Who else?

C37AFE 03-19-2020 02:49 PM

Keeping getting emails from jetlinx

dera 03-19-2020 03:02 PM

XJT i believe is the only regional who is still hiring.

backtoregionals 03-19-2020 03:11 PM

Mesa might still be. We haven’t been told otherwise, yet...

XJT classes are not "on" necessarily, just not cancelled yet.

Piedmont is still hiring as of today. Envoy stopped today. Sky West sent current new hires in training packing.

hate the game... is what it is. Even with out outdated CBA you can kill it- if you want to work your a$$ off.

Bahamasflyer 03-20-2020 11:53 AM

Commutair still has classes scheduled on 3/23, 4/6 and 4/20 last I checked this morning. IDK if they are interviewing still, but they did cancel an upgrade class recently.

Stuff11 03-20-2020 12:44 PM

ExpressJet is Hiring. CA qualified taking priority in April and May classes. After that FO's will be mixed in. If they could, they would take all 1K-ish pilots from CPZ and TSA but that's an impossible feat to do with such short notice. So priorities needed to be made and a system to handle the massive influx put in place. Since CA's can sit both seats at XJT, they go through training first. If you're military and not retiring until fall, don't expect an interview until late summer. Another Full motion sim is being installed in the training center in April as well and the training department is bringing on more Sim Instructors to accommodate the influx of people.

There is no way for AA to flow back to Envoy without breaking the contract. We have no prevision for it. Sure they can make an offer to allow something, but it certainly isnt legal as per the current agreement.

Since they are part of TSA holdings, are they going to be stable for the foreseeable future or the next to close down?

They are scheduled to get 70 more planes, from what I read on another thread, but I assume preferential hiring for TSA and Compass...

GoJet has stopped hiring and has canceled future classes. March 17 class & earlier are continuing.

CaptainCreampie 03-21-2020 10:29 AM

This is why cargo is the best type of flying. Lots of open time right now while the people carriers are dumping pilots and flight attendants, our ops are going buck wild! Good luck out there boys.

I'll give it another 10 days.

Did you see the auto manufacturers shutting plants down? Business is winding down everywhere, cargo will go too. Especially acmi. Pax carriers will lower prices to take every pound they can just to generate revenue.

CRJJ 03-21-2020 11:05 AM

stuff like car parts don't matter right now, there's a lot of basics stuck all over the world and that needs to be flown. pretty sure cargo is gonna keep flying no matter what. even american and company started flying cargo with no passengers, and there's a reason for that.

This right here. I’m just hoping there are no bailouts for any airlines. Especially the legacy carriers. They have had 20 years since their last bailout to get sorted. No more. I’m tired of supporting people on welfare indefinitely. I’m tired of supporting airlines while they record record profits and give jobs to those less qualified because the candidate is an aviation minority (non white male or female.). At my last job (Skywest) I flew with awesome white guys at 30 years old with 5k pic in 121, degree no black marks, and all that. Nothing. Crickets. But Manuella Ramirez who just got off IOE and has 1600 hours, HIRED! I’m Latino but only applied at one of the legacies because I don’t want to work anywhere else. I left my regional because I didn’t want to commute, thus I’m getting a confirmed ticket at my ACMI. Life is a zillion times better. Rant over.

I see where you’re coming from but the government caused this economic downturn by keeping everyone on lockdown. Why shouldn’t they help out the industries they have negatively affected?

Did I get that right?

Sadly most of the regional force is too old now. They won’t accept.

I mean, I fly at an AA WO and I'd say at least half the CAs I've flown with in the past couple months have been women or minorities, a lot of them with 4-6k hours, some of them with thousands of hours overseas on wide bodies, and they haven't gotten any calls. Not sure if they had any black marks, but I had no problems flying with any of them on 4-day trips in the crowded northeast airspace with typical terrible weather, delays, diverts, etc.

Also, I think the airlines need to be bailed out, but with a lot of strings attached. Keep in mind the airline bailout in 2001 was $15B and the one being proposed today is $50B. If that money goes to keeping pilots, FAs, gate agents, mechanics, operations, etc employed through this tough time, then it's totally worth it. But without proper oversight, they'll just fire/furlough everyone to maximize profit, and because this is such a competitive industry, any airlines that "do the right thing" will lose market share and suffer consequences. Capitalism is great, but without the government to make fair rules and properly referee the game, companies HAVE to do cut-throat stuff to survive.
