Sorry should have clarified...(just talk to HIM LOL)...they have him on domestic until PIC requirement is fulfilled then he will go international...again not a big deal...he had a lot of SIC time and got hired at UAL with minimum requirements (forgot to ask when mid 90's I suppose) and has been flying there ever since. Just upgraded mid last year with the PIC waiver. So to answer the question - being hired as a low time pilot at a regional will not hurt you just build your PIC time in the states then go over the border. Hopefully this helps.

 

Also another side note...what about CAL hiring FO's from Xjet...pretty sure that ALL of them haven't met the PIC requirement...sounds like common practice...just depends on the state of the industry

Non-ICAO compliant licence

1. An endorsement with a "Licence does not meet ICAO requirements" statement may appear on a licence in two different situations:

the licence covers an activity for which no ICAO licensing requirements exist. Typical examples are microlight or recreational pilot licences; or

the licence covers an activity for which ICAO has established licensing requirements but the holder does not meet all conditions related to age, knowledge, experience, instruction, skill and medical fitness.
2. Licences that do not meet ICAO requirements are not recognized internationally and are therefore valid only in the airspace of the State that has issued such a licence. The use of the licence in other States is only possible if the State whose airspace is used, has authorized it.

With the PIC requirements it seems that some regionals are looking for this now. I was asked if I met them when I went for a job interview a few weeks ago.

 

Huh? What do you mean? For street captain positions? I don't see why they would care for an FO.
