It will be interesting to see how much the training pipeline dries up and potentially creates another shortage down the line, especially at the regional level. From my narrow window, new career minded pilot trainee enrollments has basically stopped. Just 5-6 months ago my school had to turn away students looking to go zero to hero.

I noticed we had a lot of students that had never really considered being pilots before in their lives, but they thought the job sounded cool, had a lot of days off, and they loved reading the magazine ads that said they would be making $200k a year after a short stint at a regional. Some of those students have already quit at my school, and there certainly aren’t any new ones coming in.

Yeah I decided to play the wait and watch game with aviation. Right now I'm pursuing Dental Hygiene seems like a good gig.

My wife is a hygienist. Lots of chronic problems and infection risk in dental hygiene. Choose your region carefully because licenses are not easily transferable if you move between regions. Not to mention my wife is the only one in the house so far to collect unemployment.

Depending where you’re at it’s pretty good pay though.

Those are the types of people who are destined to be miserable in this career. It’s a tough life, especially if you don’t love flying.
