I would fly a beech 1900, 747, or a cessna 172, if that meant i could pay the bills and be based in my home town of Pittsburgh. Thats all i care about. The commute to sju is becoming a bit of a hassle

Erm:rolleyes: , I know you guys hate us Jetstinkers, especially the ones who are proud to work here, but I was referring to the fact that RAH pays their FOs the same no matter what airframe you are on. I didn't mean ALL regional FOs (although we really are all paid crap). My question was in regards to the motive for wanting a specific aircraft at that specific carrier (RAH). If the poster wants the 170 because thats all that they base in PIT, then ok that makes sense. But if they want the 170 because it looks like a miniature 737 well then thats another issue.
Ya know...you never hear people complaining about American Eagle paying the same amount to FO's who fly the -700. Get over it. |
I left Eagle last year for commuting issues. If you get hired at RAH you are in for a huge culture shock. Eagle is run like a major, and RAH is run just like it was when it was j-balls and had 200 pilots.
That being said, it was absolutely worth it to drive to work. I figured it couldn't hurt to go to the interview to see what would happen. I lucked out, but it was really a win-win for me since I already had a job. How long before your seat-lock expires? If you stay at Eagle and jump over to the EMJ you could commute fairly easily to LGA or ORD out of PIT. |

So that's how you rationalize it? It's ok because some other carrier says it's ok! How about you guys grow some balls and demand higher pay for a bigger frame on your next contract, instead of just bending over and saying is ok, because it's ok at Eagle...WOW!

How can you possibly be so dense you've missed this point in the hundreds of other discussions we've already had about this? When pay rates for our 170/175s were negotiated, we didn't even have the planes! It was a completely different company back then.

My seat lock is up in december so i have a while in sju or mia but they are just as tricky to get to from PIT. And the way Executive is run im sure republic is A LOT BETTER.

Why do you guys care so much what airplane you get on at RAH? They all pay the same as an FO (crap). Is it just because of the bases?

It has nothing to do with the airplane. This move is all about the base. All regionals are with in the same scale as far as pay; its crap where ever you go. So you may as well be based some where that you can afford to live and dont have a two leg 12 hour plus commute to work. Yeah I might make a few thousand less a year and be back in training for the second time this year, but that is worth it for living in my home town and no longer commuting 2000 miles one way.
