Chances of getting the 170 at Republic

I am thinking of applying to Republic and getting based out of my home town of PIT. I was wondering if anyone knew what the chance of getting that would be as a new hire. Also what are there travel benefits like, QOL, work rules, and such? I know the upgrade is in the 2-3 year range but that’s about it. If any one can help me out that would be great.

It's all luck. My guess is interview well, have prior turbine time, and have the right timing. They liked that I have PIC turbine and a type rating. Thats pretty much how I got it. I was surprised they never asked me about bases or aircraft preference at my interview. FWIW I fly 135 cargo and can't market my time to major players, but RAH is a great company and is in my hometown so everybody wins.

I am kinda in the same boat Crimson. I have 121 turbine PIC, but it is a turboprop and I have the stink of a freight pilot. I have talked to the big guys and they seemed to be real impressed with the guys who have jet and FMS time. It would be a step back, but I am considering RAH. I just don't know if I can stomach becoming an FO again, at the regional pay rates. I am approaching 1000 hours and if no one bites I am going to try and get on with Republic. I don't know how long the hiring spree is going to last, but I don't want to spend the next 8 years flying all night waiting on the next one. Let me know how you like it.

If you go into the republic interview having already made it through a 121 training program and over 100 hours of 121 turboprop time does that help you get into the 170, or is it still just the random luck of the draw.

Why do you guys care so much what airplane you get on at RAH? They all pay the same as an FO (crap). Is it just because of the bases?

anyone know how far you have to live from domicile?

How do you have 121 PIC turbine if you're only approaching 1000 hours?

You're kidding? Right?

Companies hiring at 500 and 100, and you're asking how anyone has 121 PIC turbine?

Flyboy right now im making the same "crap pay" that everyone else and there mother is making. Thats how the 121 industry is. If I wanted to make more, i would go be some ones b!tch in a 135 outfit, but i am not going to be on call 24/7/365. As far as the airplane thats cause thats the only plane i know of (some one correct me if im wrong) that they have based in PIT. If i can get based in my home town for the same pay that im getting on a 8 to 24 hour commute home why not. You drive to work, not fly on several differnt airplanes to get to work.
