Yes it is. They will not interview you without it.

If your looking to get hired by a 121 company in the upcoming months, i suggest you get your atp done reguardless if Pinnacle requires it or not. Once you work for a 121 company, your exam does not expire. better get it done now than have to worry bout it later. If you plan on applying to Pinnacle, make sure it is done by the interview. After a good week of studying the Gleim, you should be good to go.

They absolutely will send you home. We lost one guy in my interview group straightaway due to this, plus another whose 1st class medical had aged beyond six months. Two more were dropped after the written test. Another guy came all the way from Hawaii, but didn't bother to wear a suit. He was dropped after the sim. In all, only two of seven received the offer that day.

Come prepared and the interview process won't be a big deal. If you're unprepared, it won't last long.

do you need an instructor sign off to take the ATP written or can you just show up at a computer testing center ready to go and take it whenever?

thanks!

No instructor signoff is required for the ATP written (for the first attempt). Just spend a week or two studying (check out www.sheppardair.com - way, way better than going the Gleim route), make an appointment, show up with the necessary ID, and cruise through the test. If you've studied properly, the test shouldn't even take 20 minutes. You should be at the point of recognizing the right answers, no thought or figuring required, even on the performance problems.

Did I mention sheppardair.com?

Regards,
Ken

I called the number for sheppardair, sounds like a great program... and they will refund your money if you make less than a 90% on the test. Sign me up!

Memorize the flight planning problems. There are only twenty or so and it will save you a lot of time while taking the test. I don't know what other people's experience was, but I got about five or six flight planning problems on the test. It was really nice to just press the answer with confidence rather than going through working it out.

Wow, i wish I had seen this website before i took the ATP. I used the Gleim book and test software, LOTS of questions to go over.
