You can definitely use a film camera (above sterile).
You can probably use an digital camera or vid recorder *if* it has no wireless capability.
But pretty much all such devices do have built-in wireless these days, and the reg is written such that it applies to devices which have the *capability*... whether it's actually transmitting is irrelevant, if somebody wants to make a case.
You could try to argue that the reg was intended to apply to cell network signals, not wifi/BT but the language is vague on that.
But the tone of the video wasn't really enhancing to the AA brand... I'd be more worried about that. I have a buddy who got canned for less, a lot less.

That being said, at one 135 I worked at, the op specs / GOM clearly said "no video photography in the cockpit"
