For everyone bashing the 6 1/2 year upgrade time at eagle here is a little news. I just did the math on the seniority list. From the most junior capt to a 1/04 new hire, there are only aprox. 170 pilots. At 50 -70 upgrades a month like we have been averaging, that means in 3 or 4 months, upgrade time will be a little over 3 years.

Wow, you guys must really be short. I was thinking of applying at eagle (later) since a lot of CFI's have been passing because of the notorious upgrade times. I'm just a ground worker, but that tells me that upgrade times will be lagging later at these other carriers.
How long do you guys think the choice of base will last?

Chris,
I'd say they're never going to get rid of the base choice, unless they can not find anyone for the SJU operation. Now that its part of the process they'll need to have some dramatic event to change it. Eagle has more inertia than it deserves. They probably using some of AMRs.

Interviewing soon with Eagle, can't use the PM part yet if I may, but wanted to get some of your inputs and advice of how things handeled at Eagle (Interview process and such) and if offered a position what's the chances of crj versus erj? do they all fly out of all bases?

I already posted that math though.... http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/sh...5&postcount=34
I just hope the trend does continue as they say it will. Of course that 170 pilots does not include all the F/Os senior to #1701 that are choosing to bypass upgrade and wait for a jet slot as they don't want to be seat locked in a turboprop for 12 months. They only way to figure that number for yourself is to do the "3U" command for every FO seat/base.

I made the prediction that upgrade time would be down to 4 years by the end of 2007 and 3 years by the end of 2008. Looks like it is happening slightly faster than that! Congratulations! So, if you were hired by Eagle around January 2006, look for a 3 year upgrade!
