Default American Eagle Upgrades expected to come soon

I just flew with the a supervisory pilot who is in charge of staffing. He told me that the company has many opportunities to expand its flying and wants to do so soon. The only problem is that currently attrition exceeds hiring. American Eagle is currently having a hard time finding qualified pilots. He assured me that there were plans in the works to change this and if the trend turned around that the upgrade time would be coming down significantly. Current minimums are 1,000 total and 100 hundred multi. The multi time is not flexible. if interested apply at www.americaneaglecareers.com.

You will probably hear a lot of negative things about American Eagle but in my opinion the only thing wrong with us is the upgrade to captain is long. I have a great quality of life and pay is right there with the top regionals. We have great benefits and travel privleges that I would consider to be industry best for a regional. 401k match. FSA for medical and day care. So again the only thing wrong with us is our upgrade time and after flying with this captain I am encouraged that the upgrade time will soon shorten. Not to mention that AA is recalling and the majority of the people who have been sent letters have defered. This is good for American Eagle because AA flowbacks at Eagle can not defer so they are the only ones accepting the recall thus opening Eagle captain seats.

Good luck to all of you who are interested.

careerpilot, based on this and other posts that I've seen you make, you may have the ear of some management types at Eagle. If so, please pass this along: I for one would go to Eagle if it weren't for the raffle of equipment and bases. I live in a current Eagle base and since they are the only regional based here, I would jump at a chance to be based at home. I have a bachelors, 1200 TT and 550 multi-turbine so I guess I'm competitive. Though because of said raffle, I haven't even selected them on my airlineapps profile.

As stated on earlier threads regarding Eagle, since they are finding it hard to fill vacancies, a few concessions on the part of management would go a far way to entice others who live in Eagle bases but cannot afford or are reluctant to relocate. I understand that management may not have much immediate control over upgrade time and starting pay (competitive by current industry standards), but I believe that with minimal effort they could start slotting new hires into desired bases and/or equipment based of course on company needs.

I discussed this issue with him and I stated that a lot of people avoid Eagle beacuse they may get based in San Juan. He told me that management had also discussed this and that many changes were in the works to entice people to come to Eagle. He couldn't be specific because he did know what managers above him were planning. Where do you live and how old are you? Many people come to Eagle and if they don't like their assignment they quit.

Thanks for the quick response- I live on S Florida so a MIA base would be great. I am really reluctant to relocate so I'm looking for a good corporate job first and if I have to relocate I am considering XJet and SkyW due to similar pay/benefits but a much shorter upgrade time.

I think MIA or SJU for a short while with transfer to MIA is quite likely. Apply and when your contacted be up front with Claudette and let her know why you chose Eagle and where you want to be based. We are falling way short on our recruiting goal of 60 pilots per month. Because we are short and you want to go to the ATR it is possible that she maybe able to accomodate you. If you get based in SJU you can immediately put a bid in for MIA and maybe awarded MIA before ever leaving the training facility. I konw for a fact that we need ATR pilots. Good luck.

I'm new to this forum, and have a question regarding pay at American Eagle. On this site it lists the pay scales for each position within the company. If you have a command, you get different rates depending on the size of the aircraft. However, the EMB fleet, except for its length, is all the same aircraft. Is there a specific group of pilots to fly the 135, another to fly the 145 etc...
Or do you fly all variants, and just have a different rate for each?
Thanks.

Embraer pilots fly all types 135, 140, and 145. Pay rate is different between the three fo Captains only.

I'll give the bod to the thread starter since management has started to put things in motion but I heard some real bad stories about working for AE. On top of that, poor upgrades and base structure. They also have to relax their mins and their interview process. They might be the only regional that does 2day interviews. The only reason they get people that go there is because it's a good place to get experience and move on in a few months.
