Tribute to Regional Airline Pilots
#11
I hope this wasn't anyone on this forum. This film is a pretty good example of what happens when you put kids in airliners. It's OK to have fun flying, but if you're going to be immature and unprofessional, at least don't be dumb enough to catch it all on film including a clear shot of yourself, your crew and your aircraft N number. I'm pretty sure that there are no FOM's out there that allow video-taping during any portion of flight. Are you certain no one from management will ever see this tape, or do you want to get fired and never work as a pro again? Everybody on this forum is always crying about crappy pay at the regionals. If you want to get paid as a professional, act like one. And BTW, how is this a "tribute" to anything?

Wow, why is airline flying so hardcore about being so uptight? Can anyone tell me the reason? I know, I know, we're professional and we should advance our careers by making more money and this doesn't show that we are "professional", but let me ask, what about the surgon who plays music while he does an open heart transpant? Can you honestly say he is less skilled or is less "professional" then the guy who made this video while he cracks jokes to everyone while having a knife on someone? Come on, get over yourself, lighten up, have a good time doing whatever your doing and relax.

Id say that you need to have a balance between having fun and being serious. If you cant have fun in this industry. Then you really dont love flying. However, The last thing you want to do is show management how much fun you are having protecting 50 people on a 25 million dollar jet....especially showing faces/tail numbers.

Mom is a doctor, Dad is a doctor, brother is a doctor, brother's wife is a doctor, sister is going to be a doctor, so, you can say I've herd some stories and guess what? I broke the mold. Please don't tell me about doctors and their lifestyles. First off everyone single one is a RELAXED professional, and yes, gasp! some of them do dumb stuff too. Want a story about doctor "professionalism"? How about the doctor who left a scalpel in the wound after he was done? Not professional enough? The best part is the whole time he had himself video taped!!!!! Why you may ask? This wasn’t the first time it happened. Let's not play the card that mighty pilots don't do dumb things too. (By the way, said doctor was disbarred from practicing medicine after that, and the patient was fine, never knew it happened.) I'll spot everyone on one thing, yes the tail number and faces were dumb, sure, but everyone still needs to relax and hopefully nothing will happen to this guy.

Sorry folks but they're right. In cruise is one thing, but taping the landing and filming F16s off to the side before the nosewheel is down is very unprofessional. Rumor is that we just had an Eagle FO canned for a youtube video (took all of about a week I think), so don't be surprised if this guy shows up with him on the unemployment line soon. You can't just do whatever you want in an airliner.

Hey guys I didn't mean to open up a can of worms here, just thought it was a cool video. Were there some distateful things in it? Yes. I think it was dumb to show their faces. As far as spinning the camera on final, I'm not sure some of you have valid arguments. How many videos are out there that were taken from the right seat of an airliner while it was on short final. Several, many of them have had links posted here in the forums. I think the only reason you think it was distasteful was because the pilot spun the camera, give me a break. Overall it was a well made film.
