Maybe that has changed now, but what type of equipment goes with what base? If given the chance, I would prefer the ERJ, but is that a DFW plane? Thanks for the heads up in advance.

If your wanting DFW you will most likely get assigned the Saab. 2 of our instructors just got hired on here in Dallas. I did a 172 checkout with an ERJ f/o today who told me they are really hurting for pilots right now and could probably get on with 500 or so TT. (Of course he's been an f/o for over 6 years )

I just finished training. It started to go into 8wks at the end with the LOFT. I thought it was a tad longer then it needed to be. Apparently the training center thinks so too. They told us they were in the process of rewriting the program to shorten it. It was a week and a half day of indoc. 3wks and 2 and half days of systems. 2 days of CSI(Cockpit systems interegration) 2 full wks of sim. In all the check ride was fine. No problems. You get weekends off. BOS LGA ERJ ORD CRJ ERJ DFW Saab ERJ CRJ LAX Saab ERJ MIA SJU ATR Good luck.

What is the reserve time in ORD for Eagle? What is the upgrade time? I am at a different regional but am seriously considering Eagle to be based in ORD. Any help would be much appreciated.

Upgrades are currently running about 7 years, I am guessing reserve in chicago will be approx 5 months. For the month of July they are already in single digits for ORD RSV FOs on the ERJ.

7 years??? my god. Any info on the CRJ? That is what I fly now so the transition would probably be easier.

Upgrade times at Eagle are comming down quickly, they're running something like 40 a month through the quick course. And remember there are no 6 year FOs - Eagle didn't hire off the street for quite a while after 9/11. So 4 and 5 year FOs will be upgraded in '07. Barring major changes in the Airline environment, if you're hired at Eagle today, you could reasonably expect to see an upgrade in 3 to 5 years.

Reserve at ORD is minimal. I had a pal hold a composite line after 3 months on line. In BOS I'm holding a composite line after 6 months on line.

The CRJ is a senior aircraft, there are only 25 CRJs in the system, half in ORD, half in DFW. (There will not be any new aircraft at Eagle until AMR & APA sign a new contract, which will take years.) So it is a much smaller community than the ERJ fleet, which means fewer options in terms of lines, open time, trades, etc. But the CRJ-700 is a very nice airplane. I found the transition from the CRJ to ERJ to be not too difficult. The hardest part was forgeting the call outs from my previous carrier, and remembering the Eagle calls instead.

However, its a moot point, Eagle allows you to choose your domicile, but not equipment. You will be assigned the ERJ or CRJ in ORD depending on Eagle's immediate needs. There are no lateral equipment transfers at Eagle. You can go from a prop to a jet, but not prop to prop, jet to prop, or jet to jet. You can go from any FO to any CA, but not vice versa. As CA you can go from the SAAB to ATR, to ERJ, to CRJ, but never backwards.

I quit PSA and a commute to CLT, to fly for Eagle and be based at home in BOS. I do not regret giving up a year and a half seniority and going back to 1st year pay, again, because the benefits of living in base so far outweigh those considerations. The ability to proffer for reserve trips, short stay on reserve, and vasttly superior crew scheduling are all bonuses.

Default Considering Eagle

Hi, I currently have about 460TT and only about 6 Multi, but I am going to be doing a 100hr multi time building program in about a month and a half. I live in the DFW area and would love to fly for Eagle. I was just wondering if I might have a shot of getting on in Nov./Dec. with about 600TT and 100 Multi??

You could have a shot. Have you gone to any of their Career fairs? Fill out the airline apps and keep it updated

Indoc is one week. Systems go for about 4 weeks. Sims go for two weeks which includes a type ride at the end. Training runs until completed.

IOE for about 25 hours.

Training is great. Professionally done.

Eagle is letting new hires choose base/equipment.

CRJ DFW & ORD

ERJ ORD, DFW, BOS, LGA, & LA?

ATR San Juan, MIA, & LA?

Saab DFW & ???

I'm not sure what is based in LA.
