"I am more on an individual who learns by doing and seeing it walked through by someone not set in from of a PC and do it!"

--- Forget about working for any airline then. Every company from AMR on down is using CBT for ground school. You are screwed if this is your limitation.

" I was shafted by a DPE on my CFI"

" Way to many pinks and it came back to haunt me."

" in addition to their flawed training program. "

--- Great attitude on "YOUR REPEATED FAILURES".

--- The only mistake made was by PSA in being too nice to you and WASTING 10 additional interviews on someone who does not belong in this job. Take the hint and move on. If you can't make it at a desparate, labor starved company like PSA then you won't make it at the big leagues either.

--- My suggestion is to go into management or business for your self somewhere so that you can blame others for your screw ups and not lose your job.

I am sure you are well aware not everyone learns same way and same pace. I am more on an individual who learns by doing and seeing it walked through by someone not set in from of a PC and do it!

All I want is an FO 121 or 135 gig! Furthermore, I resigned from PSA cause I respectfully felt I was not a match for the company in addition to their flawed training program.
AWAC does the computer based thing too. Most places do.....and 99% of people make it through just fine, so I would no consider this "flawed."

Pilot754,

Perhaps 121 flying is not for you. 135 flying might be the route you should start with. The pay is equal if not better than some regionals and the training might be a little more your thing. Try it, you might like it.

SKW is starting to utilize CBT as well. It's the future! I'm not saying I love it, but it works and helps to reduce training cost for carriers.

I had to interview at so many places due to the fact @ how I was shafted by a DPE on my CFI..............................Way to many pinks and it came back to haunt me. PSA was so desperate they did not ask just asked basic HR and I did VERY well on CRJ 200 sim.

Why and how many times did you bust your CFI?

Yes I am curious also, how many pinks makes a company take a step back, I dont have any, and know many people just like that, however, at the college I went to it was RARE for me to find ANYONE who hadn't failed at least TWO checkrides....... I thought this was insane bc where I came from I never knew anyone that failed. It was also NOT uncommon to know kids fail a CFI checkride 4+ times (I know a few who failed like 6 times!!!!!!!!!!) They dont seem to think their pink slips will affect them in the future bc regionals need pilots, howver I think differently. I was always taught that a pink or even an 85 on a written would come back to haunt me......I guess thats bc I have an uncle who DID hiring, and log book reviews at a major airline, and put this in my mind. I am very glad he was strict on this, but I am curious, how hard of a time are the kids at my college who have a few pinks, going to have getting interviews and jobs....... ecspec those with the MULTIPLE cfi failures...... Thanks, I just dont know anything on this.......

I have two pinks, I actually did well on my CFI, no pinks there, I am sure if I am every lucky enough to get major interview, I will have some explaining to do, but I dont think Busted rides are as important as some may think, after all there are a lot of school that have examining authority so you can never fail. Multiple failures on the same ride might hurt, and multiple Type ride failures may hurt, but checkrides dont define a person, what you learned from them and taking responsibility does...................... just my humble opinion, although I am one with the pinks so I am biased, hey chalk it up to experience..............Although 7 busts on the same ride might hurt, but not as much as a 121 washout

I would think that busted rides CFI and prior would look bad for your first job. If you get a 121 job and show a trend of passing your 121 events for several years, I would imagine that would make up for any shortcomings you had as a newb. 85 on a written? Other than ATP, I don't even remember what I got besides a ballpark number. I only remembe the ATP b/c I just took it!

Never "Pinked" myself, PPL through CFI/II/MEI & ATP, but I count myself lucky. NO-ONE has ever had a perfect ride or flight for that matter. If anyone feels they have then their lying to themselves. When you look back on all your rides I'm sure each of us can find one or two things that could/should have lead to a "Pink" slip. I enjoy talking to people and finding out how they got where they are. It's amazing how much pilots like talking about themselves, DPE's included. This seems to lighten the mood, breaks the ice and builds a liking for you from the DPE. If they like you there’s a greater chance they’ll let a few things slide or give you a second chance. BUT, multiple "Pinks" on the same ride is unacceptable in my mind. If you "Pink" more than 2 times then I think one should do some reevaluating.

I never washed out of a 121. I resigned from PSA during ground school.
Yes had multiple pink on my CFI due to things beyond my control which also included a formal FAA Investigation and other things and I was found not @ Fault. I have been invited to AWAC, Ameriflight(EMB120-FO), Grand Canyon Air, Scenic (Twin Otter) and others including CX (Cathay Pacific) for interviews. Am a very persistent person and WIL NOT GIVE UP under pressure.

Take Care
