1. The pilot group is safe, competent, and professional. In nearly 3 years of employment, I have yet to personally witness anything different. What a great bunch of people to work with!

Pinnacle Airlines Corp. pilot, moments before deadly crash

I am sorry, but I have a hard time believing that after the Jefferson City, Mo.
Crash.

Transcripts from the Federal Aviation Administration describe the rapid descent of the Pinnacle Airlines Corp. plane after it lost engine power.

The problem was first mentioned in the transcripts when an air traffic controller in Kansas City told the pilots it was rare to see the plane, a Canadair CRJ2, flying at an altitude of 41,000 feet.

Yeah, we're actually ... we don't have any passengers on board, so we decided to have a little fun and come up here," one of the pilots said. The transcripts don't identify whether Capt. Jesse Rhodes or First Officer Richard Peter Cesarz made the statement.

The pilot soon told air traffic controllers that the CRJ2 wouldn't remain at that altitude for long.

"I don't think he had enough gas up there; he was so slow, one air traffic controller said.

The pilots said first one and then the second engine shut down.

"We're going to need a little lower to start this other engine up, so we're going to go down to about 12 or 11 (thousand feet). Is that cool?" the pilot said.

The last contact that controllers had with the crew was at 9,000 feet, when the pilot reported an airport beacon in sight.

Earlier that day, the crew had called off a scheduled flight with passengers from Little Rock, Ark., because an indicator light went on for part of its "bleed air" system, which takes hot, compressed air from the engines to heat other components of the plane. After a repair, the plane took off for Minneapolis with just the crew on board.

Phil Reed, Pinnacle's vice president of marketing, said he could not comment.

Your point being what? All that is old news! I bet a pilot like you with such a strong opinion on an entire pilot group you have never even met would not have the jet upset training to have even recovered from the situation those guys initially got into agreed due to thier poor decision making.
Give us a break and save your grimy opinions for your women or dudes depending on which way you swing.
The fact you attach A320 to your name means jack to most of us. Quite a bunch of fellows here have done more flying in all types of equipment some much bigger than an A320 than you.
I am sure I would rather fly with any of my first officers here than an FO like you anytime.

Thumbs up

Here is the problem. The majority of the Pinnacle group are great pilots...including 5 of my friends who work there. But the truth is guys like me get tired of seeing coutless mistakes over and over again by the pilot group. The stack of violations speek for themselves. You can say all of that is in the past but the past is a very important indicator of an airlines overall safety. The truth is, my family could have been on the plane that almost ran into a mountain. Unfortunately, you never know who you're gonna get in the fight deck on a particular flight. That's what scares me. It's not that we're jealous, I had the choice to go to Pinnacle but there were too many red flags. For those of us who try to keep it safe and professional up there, it ****es us off to see the lack of safety over and over again right in front of our eyes.

In the end though, Pinnacle will be ok as long as they don't total anymore airplanes. If that happens, they won't have to worry about Northwest because the Fed's will yank their certificate.

All we ask is that you play by the rules that everyone else plays by.

Thanks

You can get all that info on www.ntsb.gov. It's really amazing to read the transcipt from the FDR. They also have 60-70 pending violations. I think a typical regional has 5. A lot of the violations are for stupid things like altitude and airspeed violations.

Ok Speedbird, I'll play....

My point is RedTailCRJ stated "The pilot group is safe, competent, and professional." I just don't agree with his statement and posted facts to support my point of view. I agree the young guys got themselves into a bad position due to poor decision making and it cost them their lives.

But where does the idea of playing in the airplane come from, maybe the culture at the airline? When they did upset the plane, they were not correctly trained to handled the situation, why? Because training cost money and less spent on training equals a larger profit. You have very low time pilots flying around in jets painted with a Red Tail. The public thinks these are NWA planes and they will be operated in a safe manner. When your co-workers screw around, it effects everyone.

I do know some members of your pilot group, and the ones (Capts.) with experience have left for greener pastures and I wish them well. I also know a few F/Os who are who are unhappy. Why do you think your HRs offering the following:

NEW BONUS PROGRAM IN PLACE, WHICH INCLUDES:

• Paid Lodging While in Training
• $200.00 Weekly Allowance
• $500.00 Employee Referral Bonus
• $1,000.00 Sign-on Bonus, Payable at the End of Training

With so many pilots out of work, you would think they would have no problem filling up classes.

As for the 320 in my user name, it just the current plane I am on. Just like RedTailCRJ,saab340driver or many others on this forum. With yours being Speedbird34, I would have thought you work for BA (thats their call-sign). It was not meant to meant to be jack to you, just a form of id.

As for my sexual preference, I like the Ladies. I will be stopping by your house when you leave for your next trip.

As for my background, I have also flown much larger aircraft than the 320, like I said above it is just my current position. Enjoy your RJ job, I am sure you will be there a long time.

Lightbulb Thinking of new username

Oh buy the way speedbird, I am thinking of changing my username to nwminibusdriver, what do you think? Then we can call them the Maxi-Bus (330), the Baby-Bus (320) and the Mini-Bus (319).
