Default Age 21 To Hire.....

How uptight are airlines about hiring below 21??
Just wondering with the starvation at 9E and others that only hire above 21, wouldnt their chances of getting more kids be better?Just wondering....

They called me for an interview (9e) but would not interview me until I had the ATP written- hence had to be 21. Once you are 21, with a pulse, and a comm/multi your chances are high...

You dont have to be 21 to take the ATP written, it does expire in 2 years when you can upgrade but if you take the 121 written and get a job flying 121 the written doesnt expire.....

I'm pretty sure the FAR's require you to be 21 to take the written. The idea being that if you don't turn 23 before it expires there's no point (part 61 does not take into account the 121 rule).

A friend of mine was under 21 when he got hired at SkyWest, which I believe has the min. age requirement.

I know Skywest requires you to be 21.

However, if you are looking to get hired so young, I am willing to bet you don't have a college degree. So if you wanted to know your chances of getting hired at a major at any age (25-60!), they are slim to none. But there are a few exceptions!

I had a 21 age issue with the ATP written. CATS (computer assisted testing) said I could not take it but, some people around the flight school said I could. So I called the FAA and they said I could take it. So I told them CATS said no but, the FAA said I could. They confered with CATS on the issue and in the end I could not take it So you have to be 21.

XJT has hired people at 19. You have a pulse, you have a job.
