He was probably a MAPD graduate who is in lots of debt with no way out.

He had to steal an iPod because he cannot afford to buy it with Regional Airline Pay. MESA's down fall continues. I expect them to slowly implode over the next 18-24 months . . .

Then if he didn't kill him/herself flying checks in a C401 at night single pilot with no radar, he applied (and usually paid more $) and got a job where he sat in the right seat of a turbo prop for another 2 to 3 years. Then after 5 to 7 years that pilot would go the right seat of the jet or captain in the prop.

Today.... graduate, get your license and you have a job. There is no respect for the position. What use to take years of blood sweat and tears, is now an expectation or many feel an entitlement.

rant complete.

Stick

All I was trying to say is that it was disgraceful that a pilot, someone whom should exude professionalism, would do this. Now although many people may graduate and get hired that is not the case for myself which irritates me even more. I fly into T-storms at my current job and I thoroughly respect what it took others to get to where they are in aviation. I have zero expectations for any airline to hand me a job flying shiny jets and I do not feel any sense of entitlement. Could I have gone directly to the airlines after college? Yes. Did I? No, because I agree that everyone should have to go through their own process of gaining experience and "pay their dues" before flying people around for a living.

I didn't want to anger anyone with my post and at the time I didn't think it was that naive of a question. My bad Stick.

Strange

Bob Dylan's Legendary Newport Folk Fest Guitar Has Been Found...IN A [PILOT'S] NJ Attic!

When Bob Dylan plugged in and performed his first live set of electric music at the 1965 Newport Folk Festival, he divided his fans, nearly destroyed the folk music community, and gave birth to a language-centric form of rock and roll that would change popular music forever. The guitar that caused all the fuss disappeared—and now, PBS' "History Detectives" have discovered that it's been sitting in an attic in New Jersey for the better part of the last 47 years!

A new episode of the PBS show, which airs next Tuesday July 17th, focuses on a few rock and roll mysteries. They discovered that Dylan left the guitar behind in an airplane, and it was taken home by the pilot. The pilot's daughter eventually brought it to them.

Well, you know, if you gelled your hair, shouldered your backpack, and then forgot to bring your ipod with you on your trip, you have a serious problem. You've gotta get that ipod somewhere to complete your look.

So, assuming this person has a rational fear response portion of their brain, how could you reasonably say you're safe to operate a flight... knowing the police are waiting for you with cuffs when you land? Or what if he decided that he was too scared of going to jail and flew the plane to Mexico? Stupid for the cops to let him continue on. Its well known by previous precedent that "BUT I HAVE A PLANE TO FLY" has been tried many times, unsuccessfully, by pilots when talking to police. haha.

It doesn't take a genius to fly an airplane.....as is evidenced by this and many other examples.
