Exclamation Attn. Mesa FO's! New SkyWest Minimums!

SkyWest has modified their mins. The 1000/100 still appllies for most applicants, however those with 121 experience can get hired with:

850 Hours TT
200 Hours 121 Regional Jet Time

They specified CRJ or equivalent, so I'm sure that ERJ would work too.

hahaha, and this is exactly who skywest is going after, and any other airline including 9e that hires guys with low times. i think it is a brilliant move by skywest. let all the other airlines weed out the lowtimers that cant cut it, and then poach them with a better contract and more pay (for some guys).

i think its also funny some of the other guys (not you rick) that have posted on here that have said "skywest will never lower their mins below 1000/100 because we have very high standards and a tradition of hiring the best their is... well the only people that will be getting hired with these new mins will be the erau, and und guys that got hired somewhere else at 300hrs, did some flying and still go to skywest with less than 50 hrs pic, and less than a 1000 tt. i guess skywest saw the inevitable and is just being smart about it. now everyone out there can share in the joy of having someone in the plane with less than 50 hrs pic!!!woot woot!!

You say 200 hours RJ time. Seatownflyer in a duplicate thread says 200 in the CRJ or equivalent aircraft. What's an equivalent aircraft? Because if we're talking climb rate here, I have heard that kites climb as well as the 200.

That's pretty funny. And actually, if you let the string out fast enough, I think the kite will do a little better.

yeah, but i gaurantee the hours you have as pic isn't real pic. you almost always had an instructor there to save your butt when things got bad. so like i said, the pic you have is worthless at 300hrs.

I don't know how successful this program will be. In the past, Skywest has attracted a lot of people from other regionals; it's true that better pay applies to some, but I think it was the quick upgrades that made it really attractive with the "me" generation. If not already, very soon, every regional is going to have quick upgrades. the good news is that it puts ALL of us in the drivers seat a bit more than we were a year or two ago.

They (management) are either going to have to start trolling high school for pilots or start concentrating on retaining pilots they already have.
