at pinnacle most of the instructors are line pilots and are not salaried. they are paid their hourly wage.

FSI and CAE guys may be salary, but most airline sim instructors are line pilots who make their hourly rate. If you do three four-hour sessions that's 12 hours plus time-and-a-half for the last four hours...$$$

At XJT, we have a good deal. I was a qualified line pilot, then became a ground instructor..... I have 14/15 days off and am home every night...... I make more than a comparable line pilot..... Plus, I can pick up open time flying on my off days at normal flight pay and therefore can make SIGNIFICANTLY more than any equivalent line pilot..... I hand pick good/productive trips..... even day trips where I am STILL home.

We are treated well, and it is not only good experience, but also a great resume builder and path to many future opportunities (line check airman, sim instructor, etc)
