I have been wondering this for a while. I have an interview comming up and I am dreading the "do you have any accident/incidents?" question. Are they talking about flying or driving as well cause I have a few toll runs and one for a stop sign which caused an accident on my record. The accident was almost ten years ago though but it is on my record. Should I tell them this?

What about misdemeaners that ended without a conviction? Plead no contest.

They're talking about flying accidents/incidents...but they'll likely figure out your driving history as airlines normally pull a NDR record.

Better to disclose everything than try to hide something...

If they ask a blanket statement like have you ever had an accident, tell the truth. "I have never had an accident or violation in flying but I did have an accident in my car ten years ago"

THIS IS ONLY IF YOU THINK THAT IS WHAT THEY ARE ASKING, chances are, as the other guy pointed out they mean "aviation accidents"

As for auto...... I got hired 11 years ago when it was actually difficult to get a job with an airline with 3 car wrecks on my record and dozens of speeding tickets. I listed every single one of them.

The fact is they are desperate for pilots and if you are a qualified pilot with a little experience a car wreck is not going to keep you from getting a job.

I agree w/ Stickwiggler. Don't try to duck and dodge any of that stuff. It's serious enough that you really have to fess up. Some of the airlines that I interviewed with only make you go back 3 or 4 years w/ regards to your driving record. (Whatever you are legally able to obtain from a notory).

Just be honest! HR personel are human "Bullsh!t Detectors!"

Right... because the internet has proven to be an incredibly useful tool in evaluating the character of a complete stranger.

 

NDR only will disclose any DL suspensions or revocations in the last 5 years. Speeding tickets and minor moving violations do not show up on the NDR pull.

 

Girl, didn't anyone teach you about crying in front of cops? Works every time and then you don't have any of that stuff on your record.

Just kidding! I agree with everyone else. Definitely don't try to hide it. Fess up and make sure you don't get anything else on your record in the future. I think airlines are more understanding the longer ago it was. Always include how you learned from it and are making sure it doesn't happen again, blah blah blah.

Oh also, I would go to the DMV and have them pull up your NDR so you know for sure what's on there.

 

Actually that was not the case for me. I pulled my own NDR as I have had 2 suspensions and wanted to see what the airlines would. It showed one from 8yrs ago (my 2nd) and one from 15yrs ago (my 1st).

The NDR as I understand it is more of a pointer directory. All it says is that a driver has a record of suspension/revocation/serious incident in a "specificed state" and nothing more. My NDR points to the states where my suspensions occured but says nothing about the circumstances only to contact that state for further details.

I could be wrong but I think NDR records are permanent. Actually I hope I am wrong as it would be nice to finally have my mistakes behind me.
